Xuzhou-based heavy machinery manufacturer XCMG announced this week that it had achieved another milestone in the development of its intelligent supply chain platform.

The product, which has been in development for the past three years, is the first platform in China to use the Handle System developed by Dr Robert Kahn. On Friday, XCMG revealed that, in an important step forward, the platform had passed national acceptance testing.

Designed to provide a four-stage solution for information traceability, intelligent storage, intelligent logistics and marketing and services, the platform has built to help XCMG to raise operational efficiency in its supply chain.

The Handle System allows XCMG's intelligent supply chain to trace information and connection between equipment and fundamental parts, as well as inventory inquiry of offsite components, real-time market and quality feedback, paper-less mobile warehouse management and more.

"The platform of XCMG intelligent supply chain is a crucial link in achieving information sharing and operational efficiency between XCMG's upstream and downstream companies. XCMG is dedicated to creating highly efficient and intelligent systems that will converge purchasing, logistics and information exchange to push forward Intelligent Manufacturing (IM)," noted Dawei Jiang,GM Xuzhou XCMG Material Supply.

Enabled and driven by the advent of the 5G era, XCMG has stepped up its  industrial internet development and IoT integration in recent years, and the new platform will form an integral element of the company’s ability to act and react to its increasingly intelligent supply chain process.

"XCMG will continue to embrace this revolution, push forward the integration development of AI, 5G and industrial security with XCMG's Hanyun industrial information platform to create more value for customers," said Zhang Qiliang, general manager of Jiangsu XCMG Information Technology at a seminar on commercial 5G usage.
