Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has been at the forefront of India’s outsourcing business for over four decades, and is the largest information technology provider in Asia in addition to being the second largest business process outsourcing firm in India.

Now, we have some numbers to back up those claims.

TCS subsidiary Diligenta, a BPO service provider in the UK, recently inked a $2.2 billion, 15-year outsourcing contract with Friends Life. The contract calls for Diligenta to assume the responsibility for 3.2 million policies for Friends Life, which handles pensions, investments and insurance.

“Our domain-centric, platform-based solutions enable us to help companies transform their businesses,” TCS CEO and MD N Chandraesekaran told The Hindu. “Our strong presence in the insurance segment, track record and the early investments in building products and platforms have contributed to this win.”

And win they did. The latest TCS score is the second largest one signed by by the company, trailing only the $2.5 billion Citi deal signed in 2008.
