Global supply chain management service provider Damco has a new man at the helm in the Latin America region, with plans to use his experience of the region to "capitalise on significant opportunities".

The Netherlands-based company, owned by Danish transportation and energy sector leader Maersk Group, has announced the appointment of Samuel Israel (pictured, right) as Regional Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Latin America Region.

With over thirty years of experience in the logistics industry, Israel has occupied a number of high profile positions in the region, including Country Manager for Mexico at Danzas – now known as DHL Global Forwarding - and 12 years as CEO for DHL Global Forwarding Latin America.

Prior to Latin America, Israel, a French national, held various commercial and operational roles in France, including Operations Manager for Danzas and Ocean Freight Director for Panalpina - a Swiss provider of forwarding and logistics services - before making the move to Latin America in 1999.

Damco CEO Rolf Habben-Jansen said: “Latin America offers great potential for our Supply Chain Management expertise.

“We have ambitious plans on developing Damco throughout the region, notably in Brazil and Mexico as well as in the Andean region.

“Samuel’s considerable experience and local knowledge will enable us to capitalise on the significant opportunities in Latin America.”

Damco is one of the world’s leading providers of freight forwarding and supply chain management services. For more than 100 years it has been providing global customers with transportation and logistics solutions to support their business.
