Lenovo’s Supply Chain Achieves Highest Ever Gartner Ranking

Lenovo has been awarded its highest-ever ranking from Gartner at seventh globally, up from eighth the previous year and 10th in 2024. The 2026 Global Supply Chain Top 25 recognised its operations for the autonomous workforce it boasts, with the way it prioritises continuous digital learning.
As we move towards an ever more autonomous supply chain, prioritising technology and a digital-first approach could be an advantage worth investing in. The report says that “Chief Supply Chain Officers (CSCOs) must reimagine work for a human-machine future”.
Human and machine collaboration will mean aligning learning and development pathways directly to new systems and technologies to navigate towards seamless operations in the future.
Supply chain intelligence sets Lenovo apart
Lenovo has developed iChain, which is an evolution of its supply chain intelligence. The continuously learning orchestration system coordinates thousands of suppliers and more than 30 manufacturing sites worldwide.
As a result, iChain has seen Lenovo’s supply chain operations achieve 60% faster decision-making, near real-time disruption response. Manual analysis has been reduced from two to three weeks to a few hours, utilising 90% automation of network simulations.
By prioritising continuous digital learning, Lenovo’s supply chain demonstrates one of the key macro trends Gartner noted across its Top 25.
Another factor that the report notes helped Lenovo secure a top spot was the way it manages its resources and environmental footprint, adding that “Lenovo built a platform that uses an ESG GenAI agent to automate supplier interactions and validate life cycle assessment data”.
“What sets Lenovo apart is our ability to combine a global manufacturing footprint with localized operations, deep digital capabilities, and a strong ecosystem of suppliers and technology partners,” says Che Min Tu, Senior Vice President and Group Operations Officer at Lenovo.
“That combination gives us the agility to navigate disruption, scale innovation, and deliver the best possible experience for our customers and partners around the world.”
Supply chain disruption creates opportunities
Commenting on Lenovo’s supply chain recognition, Che Min adds: “At Lenovo, we’ve always considered our Global Supply Chain as a key pillar of our operational excellence.
“By fully integrating AI into our operations, we’ve been able to meet our customer needs more quickly and respond to complex situations.
“We not only withstand disruption; we become stronger because of it. It’s this approach that’s helped Lenovo navigate changing market conditions, maintain a competitive advantage and deliver its strongest year in the company’s history.”
Anti-fragile supply chain strategy
Lenovo’s network is vast, spanning more than 30 manufacturing sites in 10 markets, including Africa, Europe and South America. In 2025, it also opened a new manufacturing base in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Lenovo said it is “committed to supporting the creation of thousands of local jobs, enabling knowledge transfer, and driving long-term economic value creation in Saudi Arabia”.
Scale continues to be a focus for Lenovo, demonstrated by its investment and job expansion at its US manufacturing and fulfilment campus in Whitsett, North Carolina. The campus spans more than 800,000 square feet and employs approximately 1,100 people, serving manufacturing, rack integration, and order fulfilment for its US customers.
End-to-end supply orchestration was a key macro trend identified in the Gartner report, as supply chain leaders respond to supply constraints with deeper ecosystem collaboration.
Looking to the future of Lenovo’s supply chain, Che Min says: “As AI continues to reshape every industry, we see a tremendous opportunity to further transform how supply chains operate and set the standard for operational excellence.”
We are looking to celebrate the large-scale organisations that demonstrate supply chain excellence at The Global Supply Chain Awards 2026, taking place on 8 September at JW Marriott Grosvenor House London.
Categories include the highly converted Enterprise of the Year, which recognises enterprises with 1,000+ employees that consistently deliver outstanding results and set new benchmarks for operational efficiency, resilience, and global impact.
This category, along with seven others, will be won by supply chain leaders at an exclusive black-tie gala dinner. There is still time to enter Enterprise of the Year and other categories for this year’s awards and you can secure your spot at Supply Chain LIVE: The London Summit 2026, where supply chain leaders will be discussing key industry insights.
