Procurement in flux

In a move to increase speed and create resilient supply chains, procurement processes are shifting from manual entry to more autonomous systems.

Geopolitical uncertainty over the last five years highlights why risk management remains central to procurement strategy.

Supply chains must respond to immediate environmental needs while building long-term frameworks for responsible sourcing and operations.

Resilience now sits at the core of procurement strategy: organisations must ensure their supply chains remain adaptable rather than focusing only on cost savings.

Procurement leaders therefore are increasing investment in technology, from automation to artificial intelligence (AI).

Yet, the true challenge is to integrate these tools while building teams with the talent to use them effectively.

AllPoints Fibre’s evolution

Stuart's keynote at PSC LIVE London 2025 explores how AllPoints Fibre responds to these challenges.

The company, known formally as AllPoints Fibre Networks (APFN), waformed in 2023 from the combination of four regional internet service providers — AllPoints Fibre, Jurassic Fibre, Swish Fibre and Giganet.

Through bringing these businesses together, APFN positions itself as a national wholesaler with a mission to make connectivity simpler for service providers and end users.

This expansion requires procurement processes that match the scale of ambition.

Stuart says: “The business had evolved from the startup phase of the legacy companies to a more mature scale up, which meant doing things differently, more structure and governance to deliver sustainable growth.

"This posed challenges but also presented opportunities to develop the new skills for the team.”

People and processes together

AllPoints Fibre creates an environment where collaboration and ambition guide supply chain decisions.

Stuart highlights finding the balance: “We can build the best processes, introduce state-of-the-art automation, but, without the right team set up, this will not deliver results.”

Supply chain success comes from a combination of digital tools and skilled people who understand how to apply them.

The company’s procurement operations reflect its broader goal of making fibre access faster and simpler, building a network that is resilient, sustainable and efficient.
