Since being established in 1982, Aramex has grown to become a global leader in the logistics and transportation industry, recognised for its customised and innovative services for businesses and consumers.

Headquartered in the UAE, the company’s location bridges East and West, enabling it to reach more customers with effective logistics solutions.

A prime example is its partnership with the life sciences logistics specialist, Biocair, with which Aramex is addressing the challenges faced by the sector in Ireland.

Tailored solutions for customers

By leveraging Aramex's extensive logistics capabilities and Biocair's specialised expertise, customers are being given access to unmatched service quality and tailored, end-to-end solutions that meet their unique needs.

With a shared commitment to excellence, the collaboration sets a new standard for the industry, ensuring pharmaceutical goods reach patients promptly and safely – potentially saving lives.

Darragh Scannell, Life Science Logistics Supervisor at Aramex Ireland, points to positive customer feedback as evidence of the partnership’s effectiveness.

“From the moment we first engaged with Biocair and Aramex Ireland, it was evident that they prioritise customer satisfaction,” says the Supply Chain Lead from a global contract development and manufacturing organisation.

“Their team of professionals demonstrated exceptional knowledge and expertise in handling the unique logistics challenges of the pharmaceutical industry. They understood the criticality of time-sensitive shipments and the importance of maintaining product integrity throughout the supply chain.”

Navigating challenges

Addressing the complexities arising from the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union (EU), Peter Canning, Air Freight Manager at Aramex Ireland, highlights the partnership's proactive approach in leveraging expertise to navigate customs procedures efficiently.

Strategically located bonded facilities – where shippers can store imported goods before customs processes them – further mitigate potential delays, ensuring uninterrupted logistics operations.

Meanwhile, and contrary to concerns, Biocair and Aramex have provided reassurance that air and road freight exports from Ireland are not experiencing capacity issues.

“For air freight, especially in the life science sector, there is sufficient capacity available – particularly for shipments under 100kg,” Peter continues.

“Overall, we don’t see any export challenges related to capacity in Ireland.”

Expertise in pharmaceutical logistics

Transporting pharmaceutical goods on a global scale evidently requires meticulous attention to detail when it comes to regulatory compliance and documentation accuracy.

This is something the collaboration between Aramex and Biocair ensures, with the pair leaving no stone unturned in their bid to provide a first-class service.

“The complexity of the products we ship means we must know each local customs clearance process in detail,” adds Andrew Moss, Customer Solutions Manager at Biocair.

“This is something Biocair has worked for years to ensure is the case.”
