The introduction of AI agents allows Repsol to improve operational efficiency, particularly in logistics and supply chain management.

These AI systems, developed with Accenture and powered by NVIDIA’s technology, are designed to handle a range of tasks, from predictive maintenance in industrial facilities to real-time inventory management.

By integrating these intelligent agents, Repsol aims to enhance planning, forecasting and incident resolution, ensuring smoother operations across its supply chain.

Repsol’s push for AI adoption is part of its long-term Digital Program. The company has spent more than two years developing expertise in generative AI through its Generative AI Competence Centre. This foundation has enabled Repsol to assess AI’s benefits and build a strategy for implementing it across its operations.

The latest phase, which focuses on AI-driven automation or "agentification," marks a crucial shift towards creating self-sufficient, decision-making AI systems that support employees in day-to-day tasks.

Josu Jon Imaz, CEO of Repsol, emphasises the importance of this shift, stating: ā€œWith the extension of our collaboration with Accenture, we continue to drive our digitalisation and AI push through the introduction of generative AI agents.

"We aspire to be one of the pioneering companies in the energy sector in the use of these technologies. Since we launched our Digital Program more than six years ago, Accenture has been providing us with tools to improve our efficiency and competitiveness, in our effort to transform the company through technology.”

Autonomous AI agents in action

Repsol’s AI agents are designed to handle a range of complex logistical processes with greater speed and precision.

By integrating NVIDIA’s AI Enterprise software and accelerated computing capabilities, these systems streamline workflows and reduce manual intervention.

This means tasks such as inventory tracking, supply chain forecasting and application maintenance become more efficient, allowing employees to focus on higher-value work.

The AI-driven approach also enhances Repsol’s ability to respond quickly to operational challenges.

Whether managing disruptions in the supply chain or optimising resource allocation, AI agents provide data-driven insights to support better decision-making. This shift reduces downtime and enhances overall productivity, making Repsol’s logistics network more resilient.

Julie Sweet, Chair and CEO of Accenture, highlights the broader impact of AI integration: “We are honoured to extend our deep partnership with Repsol, a bold leader and early mover in the energy industry in embracing new technologies and ways of working.

"We are excited to help Repsol achieve a new level of performance by working together to create tailored AI agents with the Accenture AI Refinery and the NVIDIA AI platform.

"Accelerating the use of agentic AI will enhance efficiency and productivity at speed, better serve customers with personalised experiences and ultimately help Repsol gain competitive advantage.ā€

Digital twins and future innovation

Beyond supply chain optimisation, Repsol is also exploring AI-driven digital twin technology using NVIDIA Omniverse.

Digital twins are virtual models that simulate real-world assets, enabling predictive maintenance and improving decision-making in industrial environments. In logistics centres, these AI-powered solutions help employees carry out maintenance and operational tasks with greater efficiency.

On the customer side, AI-driven personalisation tools enhance the speed and accuracy of service delivery. By analysing data in real time, Repsol can offer tailored recommendations and promotions, improving the overall customer experience.

As part of this digital transformation, Repsol will expand its employee training programmes to support workforce adaptation to AI-driven tools.

Accenture will assist in rolling out educational initiatives that ensure employees are equipped to work alongside AI, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technological adoption.

By embedding AI across its logistics, supply chain and broader business functions, Repsol positions itself at the forefront of digital transformation in the energy sector.

As the company continues to innovate, AI agents will play a central role in enhancing efficiency, reducing complexity and driving long-term growth.
