How Vodafone Is Building a Sustainable European Supply Chain

Vodafone Procure & Connect has opened its landmark pan-European logistics hub in Luxembourg.
The hub in the Eurohub Sud logistics cluster in Bettembourg was delivered in partnership with the leading international development and real estate company, MG Real Estate.
It is aimed at strengthening supply-chain capabilities and supporting the deployment and maintenance of network infrastructure across Europe.
The 26,000m² supply chain facility will act as a central storage and distribution hub for critical telecoms equipment, including mobile, fibre and fixed network infrastructure.
The facility’s long-awaited opening was marked by a ceremonial tree planting at the entrance of the building, symbolising growth, sustainability and the long-term partnership between MG Real Estate and Vodafone.
Ninian Wilson, Global Supply Chain Director and CEO at Vodafone Procure & Connect, says: “The opening of this new logistics hub marks a significant step in the continued evolution of Vodafone’s supply chain operations.
“Operating from the heart of Europe in Luxembourg strengthens our supply chain resilience, improves efficiency and effectiveness and creates a capability that can support the wider telecommunications ecosystem.”
The hub’s location within Bettembourg’s logistics park will allow Vodafone to reach all European markets within 24 hours, supporting faster network upgrades and new deployments.
Strategic European location
The ceremony was attended by senior figures including H.R.H. the Grand Duke of Luxembourg. Lex Delles, Minister for the Economy, SMEs, Energy and Tourism was also there, alongside Jean-Marie Jans, Mayor of Bettembourg, Jean-François van Boxmeer, Chair of Vodafone Group Plc and Ninian Wilson, CEO of Vodafone Procure & Connect.
Lex says: “Vodafone’s decision to establish its pan-European logistics hub in Luxembourg shows once again that the country plays a significant role within the European value chain.
“This investment demonstrates the robustness of Luxembourg’s logistics ecosystem and its strategic location at the heart of Europe, as well as the country’s capacity to host international groups managing complex operations across the continent.
“This step will thereby support the company's business development projects and long-term growth in the country.”
Supply chain resilience
From its central-European position, the hub is designed to enhance responsiveness across Vodafone’s markets while supporting broader ecosystem partners.
As the pressure grows on supply chains to become more agile and more sustainable, Vodafone’s new facility is set to become the model for what modern logistics can look like in the telecoms sector.
For the wider industry, the project demonstrates how centralised operations and digital tools can reshape logistics strategy.
Sustainability targets
The site has been developed with sustainability as a core consideration and is targeting BREEAM ‘Outstanding’ certification, placing it among the highest-rated sustainable logistics facilities in Europe.
Ignace De Paepe, President of MG Real Estate, says:“Our close collaboration with Vodafone enabled us to realise this future-proof logistics hub in a remarkably short time. MG Park Bettembourg demonstrates how strong partnerships and shared ambition can deliver sustainable, connected and innovative logistics solutions efficiently.”
