Schneider Electric: Global Supply Chain Decarbonisation

Schneider is targeting its Scope 3 emissions in its new set of decarbonisation programmes.
By actively working with its suppliers through collaboration and education, it is transforming the sustainability of countless global supply chains.
It is empowering suppliers with its new tools, platforms and partnerships.
Tackling scope 3
Schneider Electric is a leader in digital transformation of energy management and automation.
It is dedicated to helping everyone make the most out of energy and resources, ensuring sustainability can work hand in hand with innovation.
It brings together expertise in electrification and automation to create more resilient infrastructure, 'smart' homes and long-lasting data centres.
As part of its dedication to net-zero value chains, Schneider Electric is creating stronger, more reliable relationships with suppliers by engaging with them from a sustainability perspective.
Through educational resources, regional market intelligence and collaborative procurement pathways, Schneider Electric is building sustainable supply chains and expanding its decarbonisation programmes.
This is specifically targeting Schneider Electric's Scope 3 emissions as it is helping suppliers reduce their Scope 1 and 2 emissions.
As a result of these tools, Schneider is creating a streamlined decarbonisation route for its suppliers, delivering it at scale across its network.
In doing so, it is empowering suppliers to take steps on their decarbonisation journeys while also showing how to reduce large-scale Scope 3 footprints.
Growing to scale
As a result of Schneider Electric's decarbonisation programmes, more than 50 brands and 2,700 global supplier companies have been able to transform their sustainability performance.
Suppliers have procured 752,000 MWh of renewable electricity through Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs) as a result of these efforts.
Schneider continues to expand its programmes across suppliers, encouraging collaboration and cross-industry climate solutions.
βTo decarbonise global supply chains at scale, we need more than commitments; we need collaboration, innovation and practical tools tailored to regional realities,β says John Powers, Vice President of Strategic Renewables at Schneider Electric.
βThis expansion reflects our belief that every supplier, in every geography, should have access to the insights and partnerships needed to accelerate their climate journey.β
Schneider has a range of programmes and initiatives dedicated to helping with supply chain decarbonisation.
The Catalyze Programme
Catalyze fosters collaboration between corporate sponsors and their suppliers, creating a pathway for decarbonisation through the transition to renewable energy. It has grown in sponsorship and is now working to form new multi-buyer cohorts to increase global renewable energy access.
Energize
What was originally for the pharmaceutical sector, Energize is growing across the healthcare industry, with a backing of 25 corporate sponsors. It is dedicated to the decarbonisation journey of the healthcare industry.
LEAP
Levi Strauss & Co. is partnering with Schneider to launch the LS&Co. Energy Accelerator Program (LEAP). This is expanding access to renewable energy across LS&CO.'s supply chain to meet a goal of 42% reduction in supply chain emissions by 2030.
REnew
The PepsiCo and Schneider Electric collaboration, REnew, landed its first supplier/PepsiCO cohort agreement for a Virtual Power Purchase Agreement (VPPA) in the US with plans of expansion across other markets.
Providing education
As well as these partnerships and programmes, Schneider is also expanding its technical training.
Through education, it is helping its suppliers learn how to effectively tackle their emissions and make smarter supply chain decisions.
Through Zeigo Hub, Schneider's digital platform, organisations can learn how to decarbonise their supply chains at scale.
It now includes modules on greenhouse gas accounting, science-based target setting, energy efficiency, circularity and electrification strategies. These all help reduce direct operational emissions, tackling Scope 1 emissions at the source.
Schneider is also tackling Scope 2 decarbonisation through its guidance on renewable electricity procurement.
It is ensuring global accessibility, as it is creating live education webinars with translations in 60+ languages.
Schneider's dedication to decarbonisation is helping transform global supply chains as well as actively reducing its Scope 3 emissions - which are notoriously hard to trace.
