Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team deploys electric eActros 600 truck across all nine European races in 2026, advancing sustainable logistics in motorsport

Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team has deployed a Mercedes-Benz Trucks eActros 600 for the 2026 Formula One European season.

The electric truck will operate across all nine European races, starting with the Monaco Grand Prix last weekend.

The deployment represents an expansion of the team's logistics fleet, which already includes HVO100-powered race and marketing trucks.

The eActros 600 will transport race trailers alongside existing vehicles.

Electric logistics across Europe

The electric truck could cover around 15,000 km over three months, according to Mercedes.

The route spans from Monaco through to Madrid in mid-September, concluding the European leg of the 2026 season.

Mercedes completed a pilot programme during the 2025 season, including an initial run at the British Grand Prix.

After the 2025 season, W16 race cars were transported from Brackley to Zandvoort for the Dutch Grand Prix using electric power.

The full deployment across nine races follows successful trial journeys.

The first journey from Brackley to Monaco covered more than 1,600 km.

Alice Ashpitel, Head of Sustainability at Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team, says: "We are realising our ambition of deploying the Mercedes-Benz Trucks eActros 600 across all nine European races, demonstrating our commitment to accelerating decarbonisation in some of the hardest-to-abate areas of our operations."

"As a team, we are committed to engineering change on and off the track and it's exciting to see how quickly we have moved from pilot journeys to a full rollout," Alice says.

Decarbonising Formula One logistics

The eActros 600 transports operational infrastructure including communications offices, doctor rooms and physio rooms.

Logistics represents one of the more complex areas for carbon reduction in Formula One operations due to the global nature of the sport.

According to Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team, expanding electric vehicle use increases its portfolio of lower emission alternatives to conventional diesel.

The initiative forms part of a broader sustainable logistics programme that includes HVO100 biofuel deployment supported by PETRONAS.

The team achieved 99% coverage of HVO100 across races and marketing trucks for the European season in 2025. This saved more than 410 tonnes of CO₂-equivalent, according to Mercedes.

Low emission vehicles could support the team's Scope 3 emissions reduction efforts. Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team aims to achieve Race Team Control Net Zero by 2030.

Infrastructure and operational readiness

Ash Armstrong, eConsultancy Manager at Daimler Truck UK, says: "We are proud to be pushing the boundaries of what's possible in Formula One logistics once again."

"With the eActros 600 supporting the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team at all nine European races this season, this project is a powerful demonstration that long-haul electric transport is not a future ambition, it's a reality today," Ash says.

"Building on the success of last year's programme, this collaboration showcases both the capabilities of the eActros 600 and the rapid evolution of Europe's charging infrastructure," Ash says.

"It's further evidence of how Mercedes-Benz Trucks is helping to redefine sustainable transport, not only in the demanding world of Formula One but across the logistics industry as a whole," Ash says.

Supply chain sustainability strategy

Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team has embedded sustainability measures across its global supply chain through emissions reduction, carbon removal investments and supplier engagement.

The team has expanded its portfolio of carbon removal projects across multiple countries and technologies to address residual emissions.

"We are progressing towards our target of Race Team Control Net Zero in 2030, through a combination of emissions reduction and a transition from gold standard carbon offsetting to carbon removal," says Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team. Credit: Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team

Scope 3 emissions originate throughout the supply chain and often represent the largest share of an organisation's carbon footprint.

Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team has introduced supplier sustainability events, a strengthened Supplier Code of Conduct and supply chain risk screening tools.

These initiatives could encourage environmental accountability among partners.

Combined with sustainable fuels, low-carbon logistics solutions and collaboration with industry stakeholders, the approach addresses emissions throughout the value chain.

"We are dedicated to creating a legacy of positive change, aiming to influence others within and outside of our sport," Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team says.
