IFS, a leading provider of Industrial AI software for hardcore businesses, has announced the acquisition Softeon, a leading provider of cloud-native Warehouse Management solutions. IFS technology allows manufacturing businesses to transform their operations with Industrial AI, through increased productivity, efficiency and sustainability.

Its AI-powered platform is designed to be flexible and adaptable to each customer's specific requirements, meaning it can be applied to any company and can work alongside the business' changing needs. To help its clients make informed decisions, IFS leverages AI, machine learning, real-time data and analytics, providing them with up to date and accurate information.

Since its foundation in 1983, it has grown into a global leader, adding to its capabilities with its new acquisition. By gaining Softeon into its portfolio, it has extended its Industrial AI capabilities into the warehouse management systems market, which is worth US$8.6bn. The new integrated platform now connects intelligent warehouse execution with manufacturing operations, without any delays or issues.

"The warehouse is the next frontier for Industrial AI. As global manufacturers face persistent labour shortages and mounting pressure to modernise supply chains, warehouse operations must become as intelligent and autonomous as the production lines they support," explains Mark Moffat, CEO of IFS.

Building agility

As supply chains are facing fragmentation and turbulence, the pressure to adapt is growing. As a result, the need to connect production and distribution on a more thorough scale is becoming a critical step. The acquisition means that IFS now has Softeon's sophisticated WMS and WES capabilities, which are vital in complex industries, where warehouse operations must meet the same precise and intelligent standards of manufacturing.

In doing this, it creates a level of cohesion throughout the supply chain, allowing for more streamlined operations with the same high standards of intelligence and care. The new collaborative nature of this acquisition means that IFS and Softeon are challenging traditional WMS segments by directly applying Industrial AI into warehouse operations.

Rather than relying on manual processes with risk-heavy paper-based workflows, the embedding of agentic AI and physical AI orchestration across the entire warehouse management chain will increase efficiency and decrease risk. It will be applied across fulfilment and labour optimisation to real-time visibility.

Mark continues: "Softeon brings proven warehouse expertise to IFS, and we deliver next-generation AI, robotics orchestration, and deep industrial domain knowledge. Together, we're redefining what's possible when you apply Industrial AI where it matters most: on the warehouse floor, in real-time, with measurable impact on throughput, accuracy, and workforce capacity."

Growing capabilities

The acquisition builds of IFS's vision to to introduce contextual, industry-specific intelligence. The cloud-native capabilities that Softeon offers provides a strong foundation for IFS.ai to transform warehouse operations which are already multiplying capacity across manufacturing and asset management.

The solution will also work with IFS's previous partnerships in order to create fully autonomous warehouse environments. The merging of physical AI, using humanoid robots and autonomous mobile robots to orchestrate complex workflows. This will take place within a single integrated platform.

"Joining forces with IFS represents an extraordinary opportunity to accelerate our innovation in warehouse management. Our customers have been asking for advanced AI capabilities, seamless integration with robotics, and stronger connection between warehouse operations and broader supply chain processes," adds Jim Hoefflin, CEO of Softeon.

"IFS brings exactly that, along with unmatched experience serving the demanding, mission-critical industries where precision and reliability are non-negotiable. This partnership allows us to deliver the next generation of warehouse intelligence while maintaining the deep domain expertise and customer focus that has made Softeon a trusted partner to leading enterprises worldwide."

The WMS segment, which is growing at 12% every year, is at risk of disruption. Traditionally, vendors have been unable to integrate modern AI and robotics capabilities. The new acquisition helps ensure warehouse intelligence can be integrated throughout the system, rather than added to a legacy.

Softeon's WMS and WES solutions, which are now made even stronger with IFS.ai, enables end-to-end supply chain orchestration with one cohesive, intelligent system. From manufacturing to warehouse execution and field service operations, new levels of operational efficiency are created through acquisition.
