FedEx has released its Global Economic Impact Report, examining the collaborative and economic role the company has had across global supply chains

FedEx has released its Global Economic Impact Report, examining how the company has had an impact on innovation through its expansive network.

The report is produced in partnership with Dun & Bradstreet and takes data from the 2025 fiscal year.

With its contributions to SMEs and its dedication to sustainability and innovation, FedEx proves how logistics companies can build a strong global network.

The report

Dun & Bradstreet is a leading information services company, dedicated to providing data and analytics in order to help businesses improve their performance.

It has come together with FedEx to explore the impact the logistics company has on individuals, businesses and communities around the world. 

In its Global Economic Impact Report, it was revealed that, in FY25, FedEx has contributed US$126bn in direct and indirect impact to the global economy. 

This comes as no surprise considering the global reach of the company, with its expansive network and constant initiatives for global growth.

Throughout a year of such turbulence, FedEx has proven itself as a reliable logistics company with its ever-increasing operational efficiency.

Global impact

FedEx has a global reach of more than 220 countries and territories, with an employee base of more than 500,000 people and 5,000 facilities.

Every day, approximately 17 million packages rely on FedEx's transportation services, with more than US$2tn worth of goods being under the company's care every year.

Trade

Due to FedEx's global network and experience with connecting businesses around the world, it has proven itself as a valuable asset in helping businesses optimise their supply chains. It has been able to implement adaptability in order to meet the individual customers' needs, even during times of turbulence, by consistently analysing regulations and trade patterns.

Operational enhancements

Throughout FY25, FedEx has furthered its investments into automation and facility enhancement. It has redesigned its international air network in order to meet unstable trade flows, as well completed a new Life Science Centre in the Netherlands. With its constant upgrades, expansions and projects, FedEx is ensuring it can grow to reach every part of the world.

Small businesses

In calendar year 2024, 90% of the 100,000 suppliers that FedEx worked with were small- and medium-sized businesses. The logistics company is consistently implementing new programmes and solutions to help SAMs grow on a global scale.

Sustainability

Due to repeated investments into renewable energy across its facilities, alternative fuels and fleet electrification, the company is moving towards is carbon-neutral goals by 2040. In FY25, the company secured more than 3 million gallons of blended sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to use across operations at Los Angeles International Airport.

Innovation

As a way to streamline international shipping, FedEx has been developing digital, AI-driven tools and solutions. This is making supply chains more flexible and more efficient, with reduced delays and better reaction to changing regulatory requirements.

People-first

Across the 2025 financial year, FedEx contributed US$55.5m to non-profit initiatives and across its team members, dedicated more than 81,000 volunteer hours.

European figures

The operations across Europe have been significant in boosting FedEx's global success.

With its integrated air and road network, FedEx has operations in 45 countries and territories in Europe. Due to key hubs in France and Belgium, it also has a comfortable foothold which helps the company thrive.

ā€œFrom state-of-the-art facilities in France, Spain and the Netherlands, to new automated operations across Eastern Europe, we’re investing in technology and infrastructure that make supply chains smarter, and faster for our customers.ā€

Through direct and indirect contributions, FedEx had an approximate US$11.1bn impact on Europe's economy.

FedEx directly contributed 0.3% to net economic output in Europe’s Transportation, Storage, and Communications (TSC) sector in FY25, as well as US$2.8bn to the region’s overall economy.  This was partially made up of a US$870m contribution to the TSC sector and a US$259m contribution towards Europe's manufacturing sector.

Across Europe, 86% of the company's suppliers are small enterprises, demonstrating how FedEx is building supply chain resilience alongside a commitment to supporting local communities.  71% of its US$8.5bn spend with European suppliers during the 2024 calendar year went on small businesses, showing that it is actively helping these SMEs grow. 

The FedEx Global Economic Impact Report demonstrates how the company is making conscious efforts to improve the global economy and helping its suppliers reach success.
