Spend management company Coupa has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Scoutbee, a German software firm specialising in AI-powered supplier discovery. The move marks a key step towards creating more transparent and resilient supply chains.

It involves integrating Scoutbee’s search and data capabilities into Coupa’s business spend management platform, used by more than 10 million buyers and suppliers.

The acquisition aims to address the challenge of quickly and safely discovering new suppliers. In a changing global trade environment, executives are seeking more options for efficient and profitable outcomes.

By combining Coupa’s network with Scoutbee’s AI, the unified platform links buyers with suppliers instantly. This provides real-time risk and ESG intelligence to help businesses maintain resilience.

Forging resilient supply chain networks

The core of the acquisition is the shared goal of building a more comprehensive and dynamic data network to power global trade.

By merging Scoutbee’s specialised capabilities with Coupa’s expansive network, the integration enhances transparency and efficiency for all parties.

"Coupa and Scoutbee share a fundamental belief that better data leads to better AI, better decisions and ultimately, a better world through more resilient supply chains," says Coupa Chief Product and Technology Officer, Salvatore Lombardo.

AI-powered supplier visibility and risk mitigation

Scoutbee’s platform uses advanced large language models (LLMs) to change how supplier discovery and visibility are handled. For procurement teams, this provides immediate access to vetted suppliers who match specific project requirements.

These requirements can span multiple criteria including risk profiles, certifications and industry expertise. Deep insights and intelligent search tools lead to more strategic decision-making.

For suppliers, the platform reduces the need for extensive marketing. Scoutbee's AI, integrated within Coupa's platform, gives suppliers automatic visibility to relevant buyers.

Through the Coupa Sourcing Event Marketplace, these connections can be converted into tangible contracts. The system also streamlines supplier onboarding and verification, a critical step for supply chain integrity.

Enhancing supply chain agility through integration

The integration of Scoutbee’s technology into a single unified platform is expected to launch in early 2026. Major clients such as Walmart and Unilever, who already use both platforms, see the combined power of their data capabilities on one system.

The integration introduces several enhancements aimed at improving supply chain agility:

  • Enhanced supplier profiles: Supplier data within the Coupa Supplier Portal will be synced and refined, generating precise, search-optimised profiles for the network’s 10 million suppliers.
  • Intelligent AI search: Scoutbee’s AI search is integrated directly into Coupa’s platform. This delivers verified supplier results enhanced by Coupa’s operational data, broadening search results and accelerating decision-making.
  • Accelerated supplier onboarding: Scoutbee streamlines onboarding by supplying up to 80% of the required information. This helps auto-populate supplier profiles and orchestrate workflows, expediting the process and reducing manual work.

These features are integrated as native Coupa functions across applications like sourcing, contracts and the Coupa Supplier Portal. The integration also incorporates Coupa Navi AI agents to optimise workflows.

By constructing this AI-driven commerce network, Coupa and Scoutbee are building a platform that enables businesses to operate faster, adapt more intelligently and build the agile supply ecosystems required for modern commerce.
