Uber Freight is transforming and simplifying the shipping element of supply chain, offering a streamlined booking platform to enhance efficiency

Uber Freight, known for its robust enterprise logistics solutions, offers a comprehensive suite of applications, managed services and an extensive carrier network.

As one of the largest network carriers, managing more than US$18bn worth of freight, Uber Freight is backed by top-tier investors and serves one in three Fortune 500 companies, including industry giants like Del Monte Foods, Nestlé and Anheuser-Busch InBev.

To further ease customers' operations, Uber Freight has rebranded its instant freight quoting and booking platform as Uber Freight Shipping, enhancing various features and expanding its capacity.

Ever-growing supply chain challenges

Launched in 2018 to streamline freight operations, Uber Freight Shipping has grown to include advanced features like 24/7 support, rate comparisons and extended capacity options, fully integrated with a leading enterprise resource planning (ERP) provider.

Small and medium-sized businesses, already grappling with rising operational costs, face growing difficulties in managing supply chains due to limited access to advanced, cost-effective tools. Uber Freight Shipping seeks to address these challenges by providing access to powerful logistics technology, enabling faster, more transparent and efficient operations.

Rebranded from Shipper Platform, Uber Freight Shipping has seen significant growth in 2024, with a 176% increase in new customers and a 44% rise in less-than-truckload shipments. Uber Freight aims to build on this success by offering enhanced features that further accelerate supply chain performance.

"Our customers need a platform that's quick, easy to use and gives them instant access to the FTL and LTL capacity they need, whether they're moving one load or a thousand,” says Steve Barber, Head of Shipper Products at Uber Freight.

“Uber Freight Shipping was built with that in mind – it's the go-to solution for shippers who need to get things done efficiently and without hassle."

    Features designed for efficiency

Key features of Uber Freight Shipping include:

    • Instant booking: Users can quote and book FTL and LTL shipments, including dry van, reefer and flatbed, all from a single interface. The platform taps into Uber’s carrier network of more than 150 LTL and 95,000 FTL carriers.
    • ERP integration: Essential documents like proof of delivery (PODs) and bills of lading (BOLs) can be digitised and organised. The ERP integration allows seamless connection to Uber Freight Shipping, simplifying the transition from order review to shipment creation.
    • Transparent pricing and easy comparisons: The Rates and Lanes tool enables shippers to access instant quotes, compare rates and tender directly to contracted providers, facilitating clear and informed decision-making.
    • 24/7 support across modes: The platform offers enhanced customer service with real-time support for all shipping needs. Dedicated account support provides tailored multi-modal solutions, including quotes and shipping for hazmat, intermodal, international, multi-stop and expedited services.

Meeting the demands of a challenging market

"Since the pandemic, the market has been really challenging to navigate,” adds Brian Lee, Head of Supply Chain at Hart Print.

“Before Uber Freight, we were managing multiple platforms and manually booking shipments, which made it almost impossible to predict our costs.

"This puts a lot of strain on our budget and resources. We needed a way to better manage our shipping needs so we could keep pace with customer demands and focus on growth."

Uber Freight Shipping represents the latest in a series of innovations from Uber Freight, following the launches of Uber Freight Exchange: Contract and Uber Freight Exchange: Spot.

These tools offer shippers and carriers a seamless and efficient procurement experience, underscoring Uber Freight’s commitment to leading logistics for businesses of all sizes.
