Blue Yonder's inaugural Sustainability Report serves as proof of its ability to deliver end-to-end capabilities that reduce carbon emissions and waste

Blue Yonder is already recognised for its ability to help companies integrate eco-friendly practices into their supply chain management.

Now, the firm’s inaugural Sustainability Report serves as further proof of its commitment to deliver end-to-end capabilities that reduce carbon emissions and waste, while highlighting sustainable supply chain trends across industries.

Duncan Angove, CEO at Blue Yonder

“While today’s most advanced technology is helping supply chains move faster than ever, there is a real opportunity for this technology to play a big role in sustainability,” explains Duncan Angove, CEO at Blue Yonder.

“Many supply chains are inefficient, requiring exorbitant energy usage and producing harmful waste. Blue Yonder is seizing on this opportunity, utilising the industry’s only true end-to-end cloud platform to bring together all aspects of the supply chain to make it more efficient, robust and sustainable.

“We’re committed to supporting our customers’ sustainability goals by developing new capabilities focused on carbon reduction, traceability and waste reduction.”

Positively impacting supply chain sustainability

In its 2024 Supply Chain Executive Survey, Blue Yonder discovered that 44% of organisations had increased their sustainability initiatives over the preceding 12 months. Of the companies to invest in their supply chains, sustainability was the leading area of investment (48%).

As a provider of supply chain software solutions with more than 3,000 global customers, Blue Yonder is laser-focused on leveraging technology to positively influence the supply chain’s impact on sustainability.

The organisation has set numerous sustainability goals and committed to the following actions by 2030:

  • Achieve net zero Scope 1 and 2 emissions, aligning with the Paris Agreement, while decreasing Scope 3 emissions – those that occur both upstream and downstream in its value chain.
  • Use 100% renewable energy for operations by powering offices with wind, solar and other renewable power through a combination of onsite renewable energy, direct purchase through the utility and renewable energy certificates (RECs).

“Supply chains play a pivotal role in achieving sustainability goals,” adds Saskia van Gendt, Chief Sustainability Officer at Blue Yonder.

“At Blue Yonder, sustainability is more than a commitment to the planet; it’s also a promise to our customers, partners and associates that we will harness technology to power the future of sustainable supply chains. We couldn’t be more excited for all that we can achieve with our customers.”

Aligning with UNSDG

In a bid to achieve its supply chain sustainability objectives, Blue Yonder has outlined plans to further the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG), developing solutions that align with four goals in particular:

  • Goal 2: Zero Hunger: Blue Yonder aims to empower organisations to improve inventory management, reduce waste and enhance traceability, supporting efforts to eradicate hunger and ensure access to nutritious food for all.
  • Goal 3: Good Health and Wellbeing: Blue Yonder optimises networks, allowing companies to ensure the availability of critical medical supplies, medication and equipment – ultimately supporting better health outcomes and wellbeing for communities worldwide.
  • Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production: Blue Yonder is dedicated to promoting the circular economy, enabling waste avoidance through improved inventory management and manufacturing planning and facilitating lower carbon and waste returns.
  • Goal 13: Climate Action: Blue Yonder empowers organisations to measure, monitor and mitigate their carbon emissions and environmental impact across planning, transportation, warehousing and returns.
