Guido Amendola, SVP Supply Chain at Italian energy infrastructure company Snam, spoke about digital transformation at Procurement & Supply Chain LIVE

In April 2022, Procurement Magazine, Supply Chain Digital and Bizclik Media Group returned to London's Tobacco Dock to host our second Procurement & Supply Chain LIVE.

Dubbed ‘The Risk & Resilience Conference’ the two-day hybrid event featured keynotes, roundtables, Q&As, and networking opportunities with inspirational and knowledgeable leaders in the procurement and supply chain space.

Guido Amendola is Senior VP Supply Chain at Italian energy infrastructure company, Snam. Amendola's session focused on Snam's digital transformation of its supply chain, at a time when Europe is looking to move away from fossil fuels to renewable energy sources.

Snam is one of the world’s leading energy infrastructure operators, and ranks among Italy’s largest listed companies, by market capitalisation. Through a sustainable and technologically advanced network, it guarantees the security of supply and is a key enabler in the energy transition.

Snam's net zero carbon programme 'exciting' - Amendola

Amendola told the live and virtual audience that “helping drive the company’s net zero carbon programme has been exciting”.

He added that an important part of Snam’s sustainability drive is that stakeholders “continue to be engaged and involved every step of the way”. This, he says, is why Snam set up its ProcuLab initiative which “is composed of people from across our supply chain, who have a balanced mix of gender, skills and experience”.

He added: “In ProcuLab there is no hierarchy, no rules. All that matters are valuable ideas. As well as generating ideas that continue to help us, I think it has also helped with morale, because it has brought our people closer together.”

Amendola said he also feels strongly that having the right mindset will continue to be the bedrock upon which the process of change is built.

“Our culture is to challenge ourselves daily, so we can improve profitability and operating efficiency,” he said.

Amendola went on to explain that it is this approach that helped Snam arrive at its unofficial corporate motto: ‘Saving is vanity. Margin is sanity.’"
