The SCM Leaders Forum in Barcelona saw the finest minds in supply chain, manufacturing and sustainability come together for two days of fascinating discussion.
Run by Industry IoT, the event was staged at the HP Innovation Center and featured inspiring leaders from the likes of Barry Callebaut, Bayer, Coca-Cola Europacific Partners, Danone and L'Oréal.
Supply Chain Digital caught up with Eva Lezcano, Regional Director for Southern Europe at Achilles, who detailed how the organisation is supporting customers as they look to adopt best practices in supply chain sustainability.
Making customers' operations more efficient
Eva Lezcano serves as Regional Director for Southern Europe at Achilles, overseeing markets including Spain, France, Italy, Portugal and soon, Greece. Her day-to-day responsibilities are predominantly focused on operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
Eva explains: "My daily job is mainly trying to make our customers' operations more efficient, to explore other business opportunities and to make our brand more recognisable across the world."
Over the course of three decades, Achilles has established itself as a comprehensive supply chain management solution, specialising in risk management across supply chains.
"We can provide the scoring of ESG compliance, financial scorings – all type of scorings," Eva continues. "We also provide audits on site, remote audits and contract management.
"Basically, we provide a 360, holistic solution to all of our customers, instead of having to adopt many different solutions, which is obviously less costly for them."
Supporting sustainability compliance
Amid increasing regulatory pressures, sustainability has become a critical focus for businesses.
Achilles has managed to position itself as an expert resource in this area.
"We have big experts in our company that can provide support to have best practices in terms of sustainability," says Eva. "Right now, we have a standardised score that we can provide to our customers directly in the Achilles platform.
This standardised approach builds on collaborative work with major brands across various sectors, creating efficiency for clients.
"It has been built by very recognisable and very big brands in various sectors – energy, banking, transport, hospitality," Eva goes on. "This is a way where they can easily take advantage of the work that has been done before."
Leveraging AI for predictive analytics
Achilles has embraced AI to streamline supply chain management processes, with its proprietary algorithm providing immediate supplier scoring capabilities.
"We have developed an algorithm that is a predictive way of scoring," adds Eva. "From day one, customers have this at their disposal; we just need a list of their suppliers."
The technology demonstrates remarkable accuracy, minimising supplier administrative burden while delivering reliable insights.
"We have proven that, when the supplier responds properly to the questions, the algorithm is 98% accurate. It's a beautiful way to have immediate information without lots of effort."
Eva concludes by highlighting the importance of attending industry events, such as the SCM Leaders Forum, for valuable learning and networking opportunities.
"The first thing that's important for us is to learn from companies how they are managing their supply chains," she notes. "Even if we are experts on the matter, we learn every day.
"The second is networking with all these important companies that have multinational presence and having the possibility to exchange synergies and good practices."
