Announced at Sapphire, its flagship conference, SAP has revealed a host of AI-driven solutions aimed at enhancing supply chain efficiency and productivity

SAP has introduced a number of innovative AI solutions at its annual Sapphire conference in Orlando, with a focus on increasing productivity by up to 30% for enterprise customers.

They include an upgrade to the Joule copilot and a suite of AI agents, poised for integration across various systems and business functions. This aligns with SAP's overarching goal of embedding Business AI within organisational structures.

SAP Joule extends integration across platforms

SAP is broadening the scope of its AI agent, Joule, positioning it as a pervasive assistant transcending traditional application landscapes. This enhancement provides contextual and proactive support, backed by SAP WalkMe technology, to improve user interaction across different applications.

Furthermore, in collaboration with Perplexity, Joule is equipped to utilise both structured and unstructured data to address complex business challenges, visually representing solutions through charts and graphs.

By Q3 2025, Joule will integrate with SAP Ariba Procurement solutions, enhancing supplier-related processes.

There are also plans for integration with SAP Service Cloud and SAP Enterprise Service Management solutions, aimed at enriching supply chain operations and decision-making processes.

AI Foundation launched

Elsewhere, SAP has launched AI Foundation, described as an operating system for Business AI that brings together the tools needed to build, customise and deploy AI solutions at enterprise scale. It merges existing SAP technologies with new features designed to streamline the development and management of AI.

Key elements include Joule Studio, a platform for creating tailored AI capabilities. SAP plans to launch a new skill builder for Joule in Q3 2025, followed by tools for building custom AI agents in Q4 2025. The foundation also integrates SAP Knowledge Graph, which enables Joule to generate more contextual responses by mapping relationships within enterprise data.

For organisations working with structured data, SAP is set to roll out a tabular AI service powered by its Foundation Model in the second half of 2025. This service will combine multiple AI functions such as data attribute recommendations and matching tools, and is aimed at tackling the common challenge of fragmented, siloed structured data with limited interoperability.

Comprehensive supply chain management

In addition to its Joule copilot, SAP has expanded its suite of AI agents, each designed to function across various systems and business processes. These agents are capable of anticipating needs and taking autonomous actions within defined boundaries.

SAP has developed domain-specific agents for key areas such as customer experience, supply chain, spend management, finance and human capital management. For customer experience, two new agents are scheduled for launch in Q2 2025: a Quote Creation and Management Agent that converts email enquiries into ready-to-send quotes, and a Catalog Optimization Agent that enhances product data management.

In the supply chain domain, three agents are set for release by Q4 2025: a Maintenance Planner Agent that adapts maintenance plans using real-time insights; a Shop Floor Supervisor Agent that responds to production issues; and a Field Service Dispatcher Agent that improves scheduling of service orders.

For finance operations, SAP plans to introduce a Dispute Resolution Agent and an Accounts Receivable Agent in Q3 2025, aimed at automating dispute validation and accounts receivable follow-up to streamline workflows.

SAP states that these agents go beyond traditional support by applying reasoning to analyse business challenges, coordinate system-wide actions and operate independently with human oversight. Powered by the SAP Business Data Cloud, they access enterprise-wide data and function across both SAP and third-party platforms.

Leveraging data intelligence

What's more, SAP has announced Intelligent Applications for its Business Data Cloud to cater to specific business functions, leveraging continuous learning for predictive analytics. These enhancements are set to integrate with SAP Analytics Cloud by Q3 2025, promising improved decision-making frameworks based on comprehensive data insights.

Finally, SAP introduces Business Suite packages tailored for cloud adoption, utilising the power of Joule in conjunction with insights from SAP Signavio and SAP LeanIX. This initiative is intended to facilitate digital transitions, reducing the time to value by up to 35%.

Christian concludes: "With the expansion of Joule, our partnerships with leading AI pioneers and advancements in SAP Business Data Cloud, we're delivering on the promise of Business AI as we drive digital transformations that help customers thrive in an increasingly unpredictable world."
