One of the largest member-driven health care performance improvement companies in the US has partnered with a network of member hospitals and providers to create a centralised master tool for a supply chain innovation programme.
Vizient announced a statement this week that it has partnered with Captis, a healthcare organisation delivering increased clinical effectiveness and economic efficiency across the healthcare supply chain. Captis has over 70 health systems, 300 contracts in its portfolio and manages over US $8.9bn in annual member spend. Vizient joins the likes of Mayo Clinic Supply Chain and Mayo Clinic Clinical Quality Value Analysis.

Following a rigorous vendor selection process, Captis members selected Vizient to develop the supply chain innovation programme. Vizient will leverage its supply operations solutions, internal supply chain experts as well as innovative technical capabilities to reduce supply chain costs through the streamlined platform. This capability for a group of integrated delivery networks (IDNs) is not provided by any other system on the market today.

Through Captis, health care providers will be supported with:
- The negotiation and execution of contracts with health care suppliers
- Arranging service contracts
- Procuring contracts for others for the purchase of goods and services
- Formulating clinical best practices
- Clinical and supply chain innovation programs
