A global provider of molecular technologies that enable greater supply chain security and tackle counterfeiting and theft, has entered into a partnership that will expand the company’s reach into the Asian supply chain market.

Applied DNA Sciences has signed a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Sun Chemical Supply Company of Taiwan that will see Sun Chemical distribute the company’s CertainT platform in Asia’s textiles industry.

The CertainT Supply Chain Authenticity Platform is a three-part authentication process, enabling 100% security and authenticity right across the textiles supply chain. Products and materials are tagged with molecular tags and other machine-readable features at any point throughout the supply chain. Testing takes place either onsite or at Applied DNA’s forensic laboratories via optical and digital rapid-screening tools to analyse and determine applied identity of the products or raw materials. Finally, customers can track the raw materials through data collection. This includes chain of custody, geo-location and date/time stamp right down to serial numbers. This information can be analysed with the support of Applied DNA’s consultants, enabling customers to determine best security practises across their supply chains.

Through the MoU, Applied DNA will leverage Sun Chemical’s Asian portfolio and gain access to “deep industry knowledge, infrastructure and client base to expand Applied DNA’s reach to service its currently commercialised business and further build its pipeline.”

“We are pleased to take these first steps toward a formal relationship with Sun Chemical Supply to facilitate our reach to Asian manufacturers that are central to many textile supply chains,” said Dr. James Hayward, President and CEO of Applied DNA. “Sun Chemical Supply is a leader in its field and we believe our collaboration will drive additional adoption of our physical traceability solutions in the global textiles markets.”

David Lai, Chairman and CEO of the Sun Chemical Supply Company, said, “Asian countries play a key role in global textile supply chains, and we are excited to deploy Applied DNA’s CertainT platform to protect our industries and consumers with reliable authentication and traceability solutions.”
