HelloFresh & Rivian: Expanding Sustainable Electric Fleets

HelloFresh has picked Rivian as its exclusive EV provider in the US, a move that is already reshaping its delivery operations.
By adding 70 of Rivianâs commercial vans across 14 major markets, HelloFresh has taken a decisive step towards a greener supply chain, cutting more than 200 tonnes of COâ and saving 20,000 gallons of petrol.
The partnership sets HelloFresh as Rivianâs first large-scale fleet client since the EV maker opened commercial sales to the public earlier this year.
The integration of Rivian’s Commercial Vans into HelloFresh’s logistics network brings real environmental and operational benefits.
The vans, sporting branding from HelloFresh’s prepared meal division, Factor, have already clocked more than 250,000 miles. In doing so, they have not only conserved 20,000 gallons of petrol but also delivered a tangible environmental gain.
The 200-tonne reduction in carbon emissions achieved through the Rivian partnership equals the carbon captured by 300 acres of US forest. It is a practical demonstration of how electrification can clean up urban air and reduce a company's environmental footprint.
"Fresh prepared food is one of the fastest growing grocery segments and Factor leads the market with healthy, convenient, high-quality, ready-to-eat meals," says Nunzio Di Savino, Vice President, US Logistics at HelloFresh.
"We're taking this opportunity to showcase Factor's dedication to sustainability through impactful branding, including our delivery fleet."
For HelloFresh, the move to electric vehicles works hand in hand with existing initiatives. The company already focuses on route optimisation, limiting the distance between distribution centres and customer doorsteps.
Electrifying the fleet complements these efforts, and the effect stretches beyond emissions. Shorter, more efficient delivery routes allow lighter packaging, boxes have seen a 6-10% weight reduction by needing less insulation and fewer ice packs, while quicker transit has led to a drop in food waste.
"Finding sustainable solutions is one of our core values, including ensuring that our operations run as efficiently and cleanly as possible," Nunzio says.
"By adding the Rivian Commercial Van into our fleet, not only have we cut our COâ emissions, but we also play our role in helping to clean the air in the cities in which we operate."
Boosting supply chain efficiency
HelloFreshâs strategy behind this rollout is rooted in logistics. The company has concentrated its transit hubs near major urban centres, allowing its new Rivian vans to perform best where it matters most. In heavy, stop-start city traffic, EVs vastly outperform traditional combustion vehicles by eliminating tailpipe emissions altogether.
The approach strengthens HelloFreshâs competitive edge, marrying sustainability with cost-efficiency and operational speed. It also reinforces the importance of urban logistics when building a resilient, sustainable supply chain.
Tom Solomon, Vice President, B2B Growth & Business Development at Rivian, highlights the collaborationâs broader environmental impact: "We're delighted that HelloFresh has joined us on our mission to cut emissions and protect our environment.
"HelloFresh delivers to millions of customers in the US, so by adding more electric vehicles to its fleet, it has not only helped reduce their carbon output, but has improved air quality in cities across the US.
"Weâre looking forward to working with Ryder to help HelloFresh achieve their climate goals."
Inside Rivianâs commercial van proposition
Rivianâs Commercial Van is not just about cutting emissions, it offers real-world operational advantages. Designed for busy delivery environments, it includes safety features such as automatic emergency braking, collision warnings and 360-degree visibility.
Moreover, Rivianâs in-house fleet management software enhances tracking and operational control, while lowering the total cost of ownershipâa big incentive for fleet operators like HelloFresh managing multiple urban delivery routes.
To ease the transition to electric logistics, HelloFresh is working with Ryder and its RyderElectric+ programme. The collaboration covers advisory, leasing and maintenance services, supporting HelloFreshâs goal to manage its electric fleet smoothly while staying focused on customer service and environmental progress.
As HelloFresh and Rivian move forward together, this partnership offers a clear blueprint for other companies seeking to build cleaner, smarter supply chains.
