Skanska: Supporting the Supply Chain Sustainability School

Launched in 2012, the Supply Chain Sustainability School represents a collaborative approach to embedding sustainability within supply chains.
Having operated in the UK, Ireland and Australia for the past 13 years, the school has trained more than 137,000 individuals and gained the support of no fewer than 30,000 companies.
Recognising the importance of driving sustainability in the built environment sector, Skanska USA, a major player in global construction and development, is introducing the Supply Chain Sustainability School to the US.
Industry professionals in the US will be offered access to collaborative learning opportunities and sustainability expertise, in a move that underscores Skanska’s own commitment to advancing sustainability and supplier diversity within the construction sector.
Driving sustainability in construction
The multi-award-winning Supply Chain Sustainability School offers free learning opportunities and promotes knowledge sharing to address key sustainability concerns, such as energy and carbon, waste management, biodiversity, community engagement, sustainability reporting and supplier diversity.
Its direction is guided by a school board comprising elected representatives of its founding partners, who oversee strategic direction and fiscal governance. All partners sign a Code of Ethics as part of the school constitution, helping drive the school’s activities and content through dedicated leadership groups.
As a founding partner, Skanska is keen to leverage the school’s success to tackle pressing sustainability challenges in the construction industry.
Myrrh Caplan, Senior Vice President of Sustainability for Skanska USA Building, explains: "Partnering with the Supply Chain Sustainability School was a natural fit as Skanska aims to make the construction industry more sustainable. This new resource will provide individuals and businesses with essential resources and educational materials to support their understanding of sustainability strategies that can help scale their business while meeting regulations.
"We are committed to advancing sustainability alongside other school partners, establishing new industry standards and strengthening the skills of our workforce."
Resources for industry professionals
Free to join, the Supply Chain Sustainability School in the US will provide access to hundreds of accredited online training sessions and valuable e-learning tools.
The initiative not only empowers individuals but also enables companies to align their operations with evolving sustainability requirements.
Organisations can also partner with the school, working alongside industry peers to shape its development and content in the US market.
