PSC LIVE: Sustainability – Insights from NHS Supply Chain
Procurement & Supply Chain LIVE: Sustainability will take place at the QEII Centre on 5 and 6 March.
This hybrid event will allow suppliers, executives and procurement professionals to discover how they can effectively integrate sustainability into their strategies and initiatives.

Heidi Barnard, Head of Sustainability at NHS Supply Chain
Heidi Barnard is the Head of Sustainability at NHS Supply Chain.
She is a dedicated sustainability professional who helps organisations understand their sustainability impact, drive strategic initiatives and empower teams to deliver on the NHS Net Zero and Social Value agenda.
Heidi has 19 years of experience across the construction, manufacturing and healthcare sectors and specialises in developing comprehensive strategies and action plans.
She is an IEMA Fellow, Chartered Environmentalist, Full Member of the Institution of Environmental Sciences, Full Member of the Chartered Institute of Waste Managers and Chartered Waste Manager.
Heidi is passionate about mentoring teams to achieve their goals and engaging future generations in green skills and careers.
We recently spoke to Heidi to discover what inspired her to get involved with our event, her aims for her keynote presentation and her predictions for the future of procurement and supply chain.

What inspired you to get involved in Procurement & Supply Chain LIVE: Sustainability?
The opportunity to hear from a broad range of speakers, from different sectors, all tackling something we have in common.
Provide an overview of what your keynote will focus on
As NHS Supply Chain, a significant proportion of NHS spend comes through us, giving us a unique perspective and opportunity to really drive sustainability into the heart of what the NHS procures.
I want to share some of the work we have been doing, where we are going next and what I’m looking to learn from the audience/event.
What do you hope to achieve at PSC LIVE: Sustainability?
I hope to learn more about the role of technology and AI to help us take action and achieve our goals.
What emerging trends do you believe will shape the future of the procurement and supply chain industry over the next decade?
We’re just beginning to see how AI can help with processes and processing – so, what capacity and capability does this free up and how can we use this to develop our approaches along value chains?
