Ewan Andrew, Diageo: Committed to Sustainability
Ewan Andrew serves as President of Global Supply Chain & Procurement and Chief Sustainability Officer at Diageo, a global leader in alcoholic beverages with a portfolio of more than 200 brands, including Guinness, Smirnoff and Johnnie Walker.
In this dual role, he oversees the company's end-to-end supply chain operations and sustainability initiatives, ensuring efficiency, resilience and environmental responsibility across 132 sites in 180 countries.
Now, Ewan has placed ninth in Supply Chain Digital's list of the Top 100 Supply Chain Leaders for 2025.
Ewanâs supply chain journey
Having obtained his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Edinburgh, Ewan began his professional career as a Team Leader and Production Shift Manager at United Distillers.
In 2002, he joined Diageo â and never left.
Over the past 23 years, Ewan has held various leadership positions, working across the UK and in Miami, Florida, where he headed up supply chain and procurement for the Latin America and Caribbean region.
After more than a decade as Supply Director for the Diageo's International Supply business unit, he assumed his current role in 2019.
Industry influence
Ewan is recognised for his strategic vision and commitment to integrating sustainability into Diageo's core operations.
Under his leadership, the company has made significant strides in reducing its environmental footprint, focusing on water efficiency and greenhouse gas emission reductions.
Initiatives have included developing lighter, stronger glass bottles and transitioning to paper-based packaging to minimise waste.
Vision for the future
Ewan envisions a holistic approach to achieving net-zero emissions by 2050, emphasising the importance of water conservation and collaboration with suppliers to innovate and decarbonise production processes.
He advocates for direct actions, such as renewable energy generation over carbon offsetting, aiming for substantial and sustainable environmental impact.

His efforts have positioned the company as a leader in integrating environmental responsibility into global supply chain practices, setting a benchmark for the industry.
