Yusen Logistics Co Ltd, a leading provider of contract logistics and air/ocean freight forwarding, established Yusen Logistics (Cambodia) Co Ltd on September 5.

Operations will commence on November 1, 2013.

Yusen Logistics set up the Phnom Penh Representative Office in 2011 and has expanded its business through local partners as the Cambodian economy grew. The volume of ocean cargo has increased 30 percent year on year, which has achieved 30 percent share of all container freight from Cambodia to Japan, the Ccompany’s estimates.

The volume of air cargo has also risen steadily.  A spokesman for the company said performance has been backed by its “high quality of transportation”. With the backdrop of this high growth and demand for transportation, the company decided to launch the corporation.

Yusen Logistics has developed a range of forwarding services, including the procurement logistics of clothing from Cambodia to major retailers of Japan, Europe, and the United States, the consolidation service for smaller shipments from Cambodia with its own operation, which it started ahead of the competition, and air cargo transportation using its network in Asia.

It is strengthening its cross-border trucking networks from Thailand through Cambodia to Vietnam, using the Southern Economic Corridor and is already providing transportation at ordinary temperatures and is making preparations for refrigerated and chilled transport services.

Yusen Logistics will enhance its services and overseas networks, providing services that encompass rapidly growing Indochina, including Cambodia, and actively making proposals on logistics.
