ML & AI driving supply resilience, Forester's George Laurie

Speaking at Procurement & Supply Chain LIVE, George Laurie, VP and Principal Analyst, Forester Research, on how AI & ML is shaping supply partnerships

In April 2022, Procurement Magazine, Supply Chain Digital and Bizclik Media Group returned to London's Tobacco Dock to host our second Procurement & Supply Chain LIVE.

Dubbed ‘The Risk & Resilience Conference’ the two-day hybrid event featured keynotes, roundtables, Q&As and 1-2-1s, from inspirational and knowledgeable leaders in the procurement and supply chain space.

Forester Research - manufacturing tech is reshaping global trade partners

Taking to the main stage, George Laurie, Vice President and Principal Analyst at Forester Research, delivered his keynote: How smart manufacturing technologies are reshaping global trade patterns

He said smart supply chains are harnessing machine learning and AI to anticipate changing demand and synchronise sourcing, production, and transportation.

This, he says, is being done to make supply chains resilient and sustainable, despite disruption. It is also driving the evolution of collaborative supply networks, he said.

“But it’s not all about visibility,” said Laurie. “Organisations need to be agile as well. Rigid supply chains must become adaptable and collaborative supply networks.

“There is always a risk. There is always an opportunity. Smart organisations build into and test responses to risk into their operations to drive resilience and maintain a competitive advantage when they occur.”
