Masternaut has announced its first Driver Challenge Day in association with Balfour Beatty and O2, and sponsored by Mercedes Benz.

Taking place at the iconic Donnington Park Racing Circuit, the event will bring together a select group of around fifty of the UK’s top fleet and transport decision makers, from leading corporations including Network Rail, EDF, Romec and DHL.

The day will focus around driver safety within fleets and will consist of a number of activities designed to inspire attendees to think about what they can be doing to improve the safety of their drivers and foster a culture of responsibility within the business.

The hosts, who are Europe’s largest telematics provider, will lead by example in their particular field, challenging delegates to navigate a circuit of the track in the safest possible manner. Driving Mercedes Sprinter Vans fitted with Masternaut’s telematics solutions, attendees’ driving will be assessed in real-time for speeding, harsh braking and accelerating and idling time, with scores compiled into a leader-board in order to identify the safest driver.

Other activities taking place will include ABS testing, parallel parking challenges, safety best practice sharing and an interactive discussion on road risk led by Balfour Beatty’s Driver Risk Manager, Robert Lindsay. The day will conclude with Masternaut and Balfour Beatty awarding one attendee the accolade of the Driver Challenge Champion!

“With business drivers twice as likely to crash as private motorists, improving fleet safety is fundamental in reducing the untenable rate of work-related accidents,” said Steve Towe, European Managing Director of Masternaut. “Last month, Masternaut was recognised for its work with Balfour Beatty Fleet Services, by the Brake Fleet Safety Awards 2013, and we’re proud to be working together through events such as this to bring safety to the top of the business agenda.

“We look forward to what promises to be an enjoyable and informative event.”
