The company was founded in 1972 in Walldorf, Germany, and has offices worldwide.

Having originally been recognised for its leadership in enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, the company has transformed into a market leader in end-to-end enterprise application software, database, analytics, intelligent technologies and experience management. SAP has several different products.
