Sodexo's Social Impact Pledge 2030 sets out clear commitments to enhance its impact across the UK and Ireland. The initiative builds on a decade of transparent social impact reporting, marking the next step in Sodexo’s evolving strategy to address societal and environmental challenges.

The pledge focuses on four key areas—partners, people, planet and places—highlighting the role of Sodexo’s 30,000 employees in delivering meaningful change.

Through this approach, the company aims to foster a more sustainable, equitable and inclusive future.

Strengthening partnerships for a diverse supply chain

Sodexo has committed to spending more than ÂŁ1bn (US$1.26bn) with SMEs and diverse suppliers by 2030, reinforcing its role in supporting businesses that reflect the communities it serves.

The company will continue to back its suppliers in their transition to net zero through an engagement programme designed to drive sustainability across its supply chain.

As a founding member of the BSA Modern Slavery Council, Sodexo will expand its efforts into Ireland, working to reduce risks and increase awareness through collaboration.

By addressing modern slavery and ethical sourcing, Sodexo aims to lead industry-wide improvements in responsible procurement.

Creating inclusive workplaces and driving social mobility

Sodexo remains committed to building an inclusive and equitable workplace, with progress measured through the Social Mobility Employer Index.

Recognising its influence as a major employer, the company continues to promote social mobility across all areas of its operations.

Key initiatives include expanding apprenticeship opportunities, supporting sustainable employment for ex-offenders and helping veterans, reservists and military families secure meaningful roles.

By prioritising equitable hiring and professional development, Sodexo seeks to remove barriers to employment and create opportunities for underrepresented groups.

Accelerating sustainability and tackling food waste

On the environmental front, Sodexo is committed to achieving net zero by 2040, with a near-term target to reduce emissions by 55% across all scopes by 31 August 2030.

This will involve continuous re-evaluation of its baseline data and strategies as its understanding of sustainability evolves.

With 38% of its emissions linked to its supply chain, Sodexo will support suppliers through its award-winning engagement programme to help them cut their carbon footprint.

The company also remains focused on reducing food waste, embedding sustainable procurement practices, and promoting low-carbon meal options to encourage environmentally responsible choices.

Supporting communities through the Stop Hunger Foundation

By 2030, the Sodexo Stop Hunger Foundation aims to have supported more than 12.5 million beneficiaries across the UK and Ireland.

Marking 20 years of impact in 2025, the foundation will continue working with charity partners, funding both national and regional projects.

With an additional two million people set to benefit in the next five years, Sodexo’s approach will focus on fundraising, grant giving, and volunteer engagement.

The company will also leverage its network to drive collaboration and knowledge sharing, ensuring long-term, sustainable impact in the fight against food insecurity.

A shared responsibility for a better future

Jean Renton, Chief Operating Officer, Sodexo UK & Ireland, emphasises the company’s long-standing mission to improve lives through its services.

He says: “When Pierre Bellon founded Sodexo, he understood that people’s daily environment—whether at work, in school or in hospital—has a profound impact on their wellbeing, productivity and happiness. He created a business to provide services that add true value to those daily environments. From serving nutritious and sustainable meals to delivering welcoming and functioning spaces. It’s just how we do business.

“Through our new Pledge, which launches nearly 60 years later, we are building on that legacy to add ever more value for the people, businesses and communities whose lives we touch.

“Today, we face new complex societal challenges, and it is right that our commitments evolve to reflect those. Our Social Impact Pledge 2030 illustrates our mission to foster a more sustainable, equitable and inclusive future, with every one of our 30,000 colleagues playing a role every day in delivering this positive change.

“I truly believe that if we accomplish what we have set out today, we have every reason to be confident of a better tomorrow.”
