Medical device firm Werfen reveals COVID supply challenges

Don Perigny of pharma sector company Werfen discussed the company’s procurement strategy during the COVID-19 pandemic, at Procurement & Supply Chain LIVE

Procurement & Supply Chain LIVE: The Risk & Resilience Conference took place in April, and featured keynotes, roundtables, Q&As, and 1-2-1s from inspirational and knowledgeable leaders in the procurement and supply chain space.

Procurement strategy during a pandemic

Don Perigny, Director of Strategic Procurement and Supply Chain Compliance at Werfen, discussed the company’s procurement strategy during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sharing some of his techniques and strategies in the medical device sector, Perigny reflected on the industry’s unique position: “We source and buy products and services, but the quality needs to consistently be there.”

Perigny explained that “failure was not an option". He added: "Our products are instrumental in blood-gas testing, especially for oxygen. COVID-infected people require constantly updated oxygen testing to be treated. This was a big responsibility, one which we took very seriously.”
