American grocery supply chain giant C&S Wholesale Grocers has appointed a new Chief Supply Chain Officer in Chris Smith, effective from 15 October 2018

C&S will leverage Smith’s 25 years of leadership experience in this lead logistics role, succeeding Peter Fiore, the firm’s VP of Distribution of 26 years, who is set to retire at the end of the year.

Smith joins C&S from pharmaceutical distributor McKesson, with whom he spent 13 years in senior leadership positions.

Notably, Smith currently serves on the Advisory Board for Supply Chain Leaders in Action, and on the Board of Directors for Cancer Support Community of Walnut Creek, California.

“I am thrilled to be joining the lead supply chain company in the food industry,” Smith said in the company’s statement announcing his appointment.

CEO Mike Duffy said:

“Smith is a hands-on leader who believes in supporting and coaching his team.”

“His significant logistics experience and positive approach to leadership will be tremendous assets as we execute on future initiatives.”

C&S is both the largest grocery supply firm in the US and an innovative leader in supply chain transformation.
