The winners of the Epic Awards, organised by ProcureCon Canada in partnership with Supply Professional, were announced this week at the 2019 event in Toronto.

Billed as a premier program for procurement professionals, the EPIC Awards recognise leadership in the procurement sphere as well as innovation and high achievers.

Michael Power, Editor of Supply Professional magazine, presented the awards. “Procurement in 2019 is a profession facing several challenges and disruptive forces including ever evolving technology, the constantly shifting economical and political landscape, the pressures of risk mitigation, cost reduction pressures, or simply being asked to do more for less.

“Canada’s procurement community routinely handles these challenges as true professionals,” he commented.

Four awards were announced at this year’s ProcureCon Canada, with categories including individual innovation, team innovation, ‘rising star’ and supplier excellence.

The award for innovator of the year went to John Castelhano, AVP Strategic Sourcing and Procurement North America at BGIS. BGIS provides customised solutions for businesses spanning project delivery, facilities management, building performance management, sustainability and more.

“I’ve been a big supporter of ProcureCon and attend quite a few of these events,” said Castelhano. “I’m very privileged to work with a great team. They do all the hard work, so this award is for them!”

“In order to continue to recognise excellence, WBR and the ProcureCon team have partnered with Supply Professional magazine to present the EPIC Awards for 2019,” said Alex Chard, Senior Project Director at WBR, which organises the ProcureCon series.

The EPIC awards can benefit businesses and supply chain professionals by elevating credibility and offering recognition for nominees and winners, as well as allowing attendees of ProcureCon to hear about some of the latest achievements in the space and learn from those with years of experience.
