Inside Siemens Healthineers' US Supply Chain Investment

Siemens Healthineers is expanding its logistics network in the US with the launch of two mega depots in Dayton, New Jersey and Manteca, California.
These additions boost parts availability by nearly a third and provide greater delivery flexibility to healthcare providers.
The company, which operates in more than 180 countries, aims to enhance supply chain resilience, ensuring that critical medical equipment remains accessible despite potential disruptions.
Supply chain disruptions have long been a challenge in healthcare and recent global events have only heightened the urgency for reliable logistics.
Siemens Healthineers is responding to this demand by working with GXO, the world’s largest pure-play contract logistics provider, to lease new warehouse space in both locations.
These mega depots will supplement the company's existing distribution hub in Memphis, creating a robust network capable of absorbing unexpected demand surges and external challenges.
David Pacitti, President and Head of the Americas at Siemens Healthineers, highlights the impact of the investment: “Healthcare providers across the US count on us and our parts network for the equipment they need to give their patients exceptional care.
"Any disruption to the availability of parts and supplies can be disastrous for providers and patients. By partnering with GXO, our parts network will further safeguard customers from supply-chain uncertainty.”
Faster, more efficient deliveries
Beyond increasing inventory, the expansion brings tangible benefits to Siemens Healthineers’ customers.
The new depots allow for later order cut-off times, same-day delivery within 300 miles and more next-flight-out options for urgent needs. These improvements mean hospitals and clinics can receive crucial parts and supplies faster, reducing downtime for essential medical equipment.
Jorge Guanter, President of Americas and Asia Pacific at GXO, sees this as a game-changer for healthcare logistics: “It’s an exciting time as we help Siemens Healthineers expand and speed up their parts network in the US and strengthen this critical infrastructure.
"Healthcare providers depend on vital equipment being readily available for their patients. By working together, we will make more products accessible and ordering easier with faster delivery when medical supplies are needed across the US without delay.”
Future-proofing healthcare logistics
The need for a stable, agile supply chain in healthcare has never been greater. While the COVID-19 pandemic exposed vulnerabilities in global logistics, ongoing challenges such as severe weather and geopolitical tensions continue to pose risks.
Siemens Healthineers’ new mega depots are designed not only to meet current demand but also to provide long-term stability.
The company is also reducing its environmental impact by optimising delivery routes and maintaining forward stocking locations close to major customers.
GXO has already begun providing warehousing and inventory management in New Jersey, with plans to start operations in California in early 2025.
As the healthcare sector faces ever-evolving challenges, Siemens Healthineers is taking proactive steps to ensure that critical medical supplies remain within easy reach.
