Udit Madan: Implementing Automation as SVP, Amazon

Udit Madan is Amazon's youngest and newest SVP, taking on a major role within a global giant. His impressive rise to this position and the work he has put into the company has determined his spot on Supply Chain Digital’s Top 100 Supply Chain Leaders 2026 list, where he sits as the No.2 supply chain leader in the world.
By combining innovation with employee experience, Udit ensures that Amazon's supply chain works like a well-oiled machine, delivering packages to customers in every country.
How did Udit get here?
At just 38, Udit is a key member of the executive team, overseeing a colossal infrastructure that includes a fleet of planes, thousands of lorries and more than a million robots. Having joined the company in 2008 as a software engineer, Udit has spent nearly two decades mastering the complexities of the supply chain.
In his early years, he was a lead architect of the ambitious regionalisation programme, which successfully overhauled the US delivery network to achieve record-breaking shipping speeds.
As supply chains around the world become increasingly digitised to encourage efficiency, speed and risk mitigation, Amazon is no stranger to technological advancements. As a result, in his role today, Udit focuses on merging cutting-edge automation with human talent, ensuring that technology enhances rather than replaces the workforce. His leadership is defined by a commitment to scaling local innovations – such as delivery partnerships with small shops – across global markets.
A passionate problem-solver, Udit remains dedicated to building a resilient, high-speed logistics network that evolves alongside consumer demands.
Recent years have proven volatile for businesses around the world, but Udit's welcoming of new technologies and solutions has helped build resilience for Amazon and its clients.
In his role, Udit has worked to ensure company strength during turbulence, as well as improving delivery speeds across its logistics operations or growing its customer base to cover even the most rural areas of the world.
All supply chain, procurement and logistics leaders should attend:
- Supply Chain LIVE: The Net Zero Summit - QEII Centre, London, March 4-5
- Supply Chain LIVE: The US Summit - Navy Pier, Chicago, April 21-22
Co-located with Procurement & Sustainability LIVE, these events bring together COOs, CSOs, and senior decision-makers at a moment when supply chains and commercial performance are increasingly interconnected.
Efficiency success
Udit is one of only 17 SVPs across the company and one of the 28 members in its senior leadership team. In the year which Udit gained his newest title, Amazon delivered at its fastest Prime speeds in history, with more than 13 billion items arriving the same day or next-day around the world.
Though this increase in efficiency has been one of his main priorities since he took on the role, he is a strong celebrator of the team around him.
"Behind this milestone is an incredible amount of coordination across our Operations network," Udit says.
"Our focus on reducing effort for customers is what turns speed into real value. Those small savings of time add up. They give customers time back and make everyday life easier. Proud of the teams who make this happen every day.
As consumers look towards high-speed delivery times when they are shopping, Udit's work with his team to increase efficiency has presented a model for logistics companies to follow.
