At Sustainability LIVE NYC 2025, AWS, Signify, Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team and Atlassian will share how supply chains can help meet 2050 net zero targets

Transitioning to net zero emissions by 2050 is a core target under the Paris Agreement, with numerous countries setting ambitious plans to achieve this objective.

For supply chain leaders, understanding the implications of not reaching this goal is critical.

The United Nations warns of irreversible climate change consequences including more severe storms, heatwaves and droughts if these targets are not met.

At the Sustainability LIVE NYC 2025, key figures from Amazon Web Services (AWS), Signify, Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team and Atlassian will delve into the complexities faced by supply chains on their path to achieving these sustainability goals.

The panel, titled "The Route to Net Zero", will address these challenges head on.

The role of AWS in Net Zero

Amazon Web Services (AWS) plays a pivotal role in this transition, targeting net zero through innovative infrastructure solutions, expanding its electric vehicle fleet and adopting carbon-free electricity. Additionally, AWS is promoting a circular economy throughout its operations.

Kara Hurst, Chief Sustainability Officer at Amazon said in a statement: “While we are firm on our goals, our approach will continuously evolve with emerging challenges and opportunities, as we’re seeing with the rapid adoption of AI.

“No matter what we’re faced with in the future, we’ll remain steadfast in our commitment to sustainability and will continue to invest, innovate and obsess over our progress each year, with the same intensity and focus that has defined Amazon from day one.”

Signify is on a parallel journey, working extensively with suppliers to mitigate carbon footprints while fostering sustainable practices beyond its direct operations, notably through initiatives like its collaboration with Clean Cargo.

As Tempelman CEO, Signify says: “Looking to the future, I believe there is a real opportunity to grow.

“Building on existing strengths, unlocking new possibilities and continuing to lead the way in lighting and beyond, improving lives for people and communities around the world.”

Atlassian commits to clean power and long-term responsibility

Atlassian has secured 100% of its electricity usage through a virtual power purchase agreement, thereby funding a wind farm in Texas.

"So much of our climate, human rights, foundation and social impact work is about making sure that what we're doing reflects our values,” says Jessica Hyman, Chief Sustainability Officer at Atlassian.

“Our founders started Atlassian with a vision of making sure that we do the right thing, that we take responsibility and that we set ourselves up to be a hundred-year business.

“So all of these commitments are really authentic, and we really are putting in the hard yards when it comes to achieving them and then being open about when we've got headwinds in our way.
