SkyNet has announced a new strategic partnership with Hellmann to help transform global cross-border e-commerce logistics in an end-to-end service

SkyNet Worldwide Express has announced a partnership with Hellmann Worldwide Logistics to accelerate cross-border e-commerce logistics around the world.

The partnership comes amid a major e-commerce boom and a demand for reliable logistics in a time of trade volatility.

The partnership: Explained

SkyNet is a global courier specialist with more than 190 stations around the world.

It first launched in the US in 1972 and has grown to now have gateways in Dubai, Hong Kong, Johannesburg, London, New York, Miami, Singapore and Sydney.

It is the largest independently owned express network in the world, proving itself as flexible and reliable in its door to door services.

To remain reliable in today’s turbulent global market, SkyNet implements flexible solutions and advanced information systems in order to adapt to volatility and change.

This means it is at the forefront of cross-border e-commerce shipping for more than 30 years, offering integrated digital solutions and shipment visibility tools to ensure full transparency.

SkyNet offers and end-to-end service covering pick-up, international transport and last-mile delivery, as well as other services.

Now, it is partnering with Hellmann to create an even more connected workflow.

Hellmann is a global logistics service provider, with a portfolio which covers air and sea freight, road and rail transport as well as contract logistics.

It has operations in 61 countries around the world and moves more than 20 million shipments every year.

This partnership will see the growth in supply chain efficiency and transparency.

“Global parcel shipping is our core business. With this partnership, we are combining SkyNet’s deep e-commerce expertise with Hellmann’s infrastructure and market reach to create a true end-to-end solution for merchants of all sizes,” says Tommy Erasmus, Group CEO, SkyNet Worldwide Express.

The business strengths of both companies together

The partnership will develop a new end-to-end service connecting brands with consumers globally.

The entire e-commerce supply chain is covered through this new cross-border solution, including warehousing, fulfilment, re-fulfilment, B2C deliveries and returns management

SkyNet will be bringing its e-commerce knowledge which will blend with Hellmann’s global freight expertise to create a reliable new approach to cross-border trade.

Due to SkyNet’s extensive experience of B2C delivery, it has developed significant partnerships with leading global retailers, establishing it as a trusted logistics company.

This has allowed it to strengthen its standing as a company, bringing in digital integration, advanced customs clearance and reliable last-mile operations.

By integrating both companies’ solutions into one, they deliver a fast and reliable service, ensuring faster trade than postal shipping at a more cost-effective price than express options.

As a result of the integrated system, clients can gain end-to-end insights through tracking across all regions - whether through road, air, or sea transport.

“Fast cross-border deliveries are essential for sustainable global growth. With SkyNet Worldwide Express as our new partner, we are embarking on an exciting and ambitious journey,” adds Martin Habisreitinger, COO Airfreight, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.

“Our new cross-border e-commerce solution connects warehouses directly to customers around the world. Together with SkyNet, we combine Hellmann´s global logistics expertise with reliable last-mile delivery in over 190 countries.”

The plan is for the solution to start off covering a smaller area, initially for shippers in EU or UK, before being introduced globally.

How the partnership is applying technology to scale

Through SkyNet’s digital tools and API connectivity, merchants can manage their global shipments through a single integration, rather than all points of information being scattered on different systems and creating a greater likelihood of risk.

With a single integration point, every data point is coherent in one space.

While SkyNet brings the digital know-how, Hellmann provides the freight infrastructure and worldwide warehousing expertise.

This means operations can be scaled efficiently on a global level, resulting in easy but effective shipment management in any location.

As a result of this partnership, Hellmann is able to diversify its supply chain away from B2B and warehousing. The joint venture now has a focus on B2C distribution, covering pick-up, import/export customs clearance and delivery.

Furthermore, it will cover small and medium-sized enterprises as well as global corporations, showing this partnership can meet to scale.

Through its thorough solution and its global reach, the partners are establishing themselves as a logistics powerhouse, offering themselves as a reliable alternative to other companies.
