Procurement and supply chain management are in a phase of rapid transformation, with agentic AI at the centre of the change.

Once built around manual processes and complex data handling, procurement is moving towards the full integration of agentic AI.

The shift is not only altering workflows but also reshaping how global supply chains operate.

A key leader in business AI and operational solutions, SAP is set to lead an interactive workshop at Procurement & Supply Chain LIVE London 2025, examining how business leaders can prepare themselves and their organisations for AI integration.

Agentic AI and supply chains

Procurement has always faced challenges of inefficiency and risk. Manual tasks left space for error and diverted attention away from strategic priorities.

With agentic AI, procurement becomes faster and more adaptive. The technology applies across the end-to-end process, delivering efficiencies in cost, time and resources.

It also enhances governance and strengthens risk assessments. Instead of merely being added into existing systems, agentic AI can design entirely new solutions that fit within an organisation’s operating model.

This makes it possible to embed AI into structural frameworks, leading to lasting change in how procurement teams work.

By handling repetitive and resource-heavy data entry, agentic AI allows teams to redirect focus onto strategic supply chain planning, supplier collaboration and value creation.

SAP’s approach

SAP has a long history of building technology that aligns with business needs. For more than 50 years, its solutions have supported procurement, finance, supply chain and HR operations across global markets.

The company continues this role with a focus on cloud-based platforms that support transformation across value chains.

SAP also places sustainability at the centre of supply chain change. By helping organisations move toward sustainable operations, SAP enables businesses to optimise their procurement and supply chain processes while adapting to market dynamics.

Mo Ahmad, Head of Procurement & Ecosystem GTM & Strategy at SAP, explains: "AI capabilities such as data enrichment, generative AI for market intelligence, and curated data...are transforming procurement."

SAP’s Strategic Procurement approach integrates these capabilities to streamline data insights, strategic category strategy creation and execution using its sourcing agent and integrated partners.

This approach means procurement leaders can not only access enriched data, but also apply it directly into strategy building and supplier negotiations. Supply chains benefit from better visibility and smarter decision-making.
