project44 Launches New Business for Logistics Efficiency

Amid supply chain complexity, logistics leaders around the world are working to keep operations running.
Project44, the decision intelligence platform working to support modern supply chains, has now split into two companies in order to meet logistics demand.
The new company, LSP44, carries the AI agent and API infrastructure forward to support 3PLs, freight forwarders and brokers.
- 280,000 carriers
- 1.5 billion shipments
- 706 million carrier events every day
- US$1bn investments in the infrastructure
- US$1.5bn in total platform R&D
The modern supply chain
As more organisations become global powerhouses, with e-commerce opportunities driving trade across borders, logistics companies have been facing greater demand than ever before. Due to this, 3PLs, freight forwarders and brokers have been forced to adapt their strategies.
To meet demand and remain resilient amid volatility, organisations have been turning towards intelligence platforms and logistics management tools. Through demand forecasting and a selection of AI agents, logistics businesses around the world have been able to increase cost savings, respond to issues faster and reduce wait time.
These platforms have been helping streamline operations and transform inventories, with their AI agents that can detect issues, make solutions and implement action in real-time.
project44 describes itself as the 'decision intelligence platform for the modern supply chain', using context-based AI to bring unification to fragmented supply chain operations. Now, it has announced that it is separating into two focused businesses in order to better meet the demand from different sectors of logistics.
project44 will remain as the decision intelligence platform for enterprise shippers, with a focus on aiding TMS, visibility, YMS and last-mile services. LSP44 is being launched as a dedicated and profitable AI-native company for logistics service providers. It has purpose-built AI Agent and API Infrastructure, which will be aimed at its 3PL, freight forwarding and broker clients.
“Shippers and LSPs don’t buy the same thing, so we stopped pretending one business could serve both," explains Jett McCandless, Founder and CEO of project44.
"But here’s what most people forget: project44 didn’t start with shippers. We started in 2014 serving the brokers, forwarders and 3PLs who took the first bet on us. They built this network with us.
"LSP44 is us coming home — handing the LSP industry more than a decade of network, data and trust, now in the form of AI agents that act, not just observe. We’ve been here the whole time, helping build it.”
Driving value
When project44 was first founded, the logistics industry was a manual process, reliant on phone calls, faxes and EDI. Today's world cannot operate on these systems, with ever-growing complexity and the rapid speed of changes. project44 released a real-time API across the entire logistics workflow as its first product, with logistics service providers being the first companies to make this shift in adoption.
Now, nine of the 10 largest logistics service providers run on LSP44 – and those who do not risk falling out of the leadership. Over the years, the platform grew to scale, with a focus on last-mile, visibility and TMS. Its current partners include global giants such as Uber Freight, Maersk, DHL, CEVA Logistics, FedEx, DSV and Kuehne + Nagel.
LSP44 has been formed to bring the company's latest capabilities back to its early customer base, with a strong focus on LSPs. These organisations invest in the infrastructure that they can embed into their portals and TMS in order to deliver to their own customers. The rate at which LSPs were adopting project44 solutions demonstrated the differences between LSPs and shippers, unlocking an understanding that neither buyer was receiving the full value needed.
Shippers and LSPs don’t buy the same thing, so we stopped pretending one business could serve both.
Now, the companies have been split in order to wholly meet the requirements of each buyer.
LSP44's agents are entering the market with full operational context embedded within, using data from more than 280,000 carriers, 1.5 billion shipments and 706 million carrier events processed every day across North America, Europe, LatAm and APAC.
As a result, these agents are ready to hit the ground running, understanding the complexities of the market in order to act with ease. LSP44 has already had approximately US$1bn invested into its infrastructure, with 11 years of expertise, trial and error and hard work poured into it.
"Over the past several months, I’ve had the privilege of helping build LSP44.ai by shaping our brand, assembling our go-to-market organisation and putting the foundation in place to scale," explains Manny Tayas, Chief Revenue Officer at LSP44.
"More importantly, I’ve spent time with many of our customers, and their response has been overwhelmingly positive. Many are already launching AI pilots or expanding their use of our AI capabilities, and the early results have been incredibly encouraging.
"Today, we officially launch LSP44.ai with more than 250 customers and a cash-positive business."
Platform offerings
LSP44 runs the entire shipment lifecycle, with each feature available within the existing API. The portfolio of agents includes:
- Carrier procurement - automated sourcing, rate comparison and tender management. It has carrier scoring based on digital performance and fraud risk. This leads to an 18% procurement cost reduction.
- Tender and booking - tender loads and containers to the correct FTL, LTL and ocean carrier. It also covers the execution from origin to delivery.
- Carrier onboarding - offers 24/7 inbound engagement, with activation and maintenance of carriers throughout,
- Visibility - provides track-and-trace and ETAs to LSP end customers, preventing data gaps and eliminating inbound status enquiries.
LSP44 is working to help LSPs build lasting infrastructure, aiming to avoid risks and ensure the streamlining of operations across the supply chain.
