Elite procurement teams thriving amid uncertainty
On a weekly basis, procurement teams help their organisations negotiate countless obstacles.
The Hackett Group's 2025 Digital World Class Procurement research reveals that top-performing procurement organisations thrive by redefining their roles and seeing volatility as an opportunity.
Despite widespread spending freezes to preserve cash and protect margins, elite procurement teams consistently deliver results, achieving a return on investment 2.6 times higher than their peers.
These teams operate with 31% fewer staff and incur 19% lower costs relative to spend, underlining the efficiency gains from their intelligence-driven operating models and strategic use of technologies like generative AI.
Similarly, Coupa's annual Total Spend Management Benchmark Report provides insights from US$8tn in cumulative global spend data, demonstrating that high-performing organisations do more than cope with disruptions. They excel by adopting forward-thinking behaviours and strategies, providing a blueprint for smarter and more resilient spend management practices.

On Day 2 (24 September) of Procurement & Supply Chain LIVE London 2025, Mark Janssen will present his keynote, Procurement Beyond the Transition: Leading Through Carve-Outs, Complexity & Change, taking to the Procurement Stage from 1.05pm.
