People Moves: Andrew Downard, CSCO at Dart Container

Dart Container has a new Chief Supply Chain Officer in the form of Andrew Downard. He brings extensive global supply chain expertise to the US$3.5bn vertically-integrated manufacturing company.

Andrew joins Dart from Mativ, where he served as Chief Supply Chain Officer following the company's formation through a merger in 2022. 

Reflecting on his time there, he said: "Joining a newly-created company immediately following its formation via a merger three years ago was a tremendous opportunity. I am very grateful for the learning opportunities I had at Mativ and proud of what we accomplished in creating a unified function with 3,500 people spread over 40 locations, serving customers in 100 countries."

From Mativ to Dart

During his tenure at Mativ, Andrew successfully built a cohesive supply chain operation from the ground up. 

"In leaving, the hardest thing to walk away from was a group of outstanding colleagues," he continued. "But at the same time, knowing that well-developed leaders and teams were in place also helped me see that it was the right time."

On his new role, Andrew added: “I am thrilled to announce that I have joined Dart Container as Chief Supply Chain Officer.

“Dart is a company with more than 30 production and distribution locations. We make the iconic red Solo Cup Company cup and over 3,000 other products that allow people to enjoy the food and drink they love, wherever they are.”

Catalysing organisational transformation

With leadership experience in supply chain, S&OP, commercial and operations, Andrew is known for his ability to drive programmes and initiatives across business units and global regions. 

His passion lies in catalysing organisational transformation through the development of people, processes, and systems.

Andrew brings a wealth of cross-industry experience, having worked across consumer products, food service, speciality materials, electronics, industrial products, medical devices and beyond. 

His career includes a stint as supply chain research director with Gartner, alongside leadership positions spanning multiple industries.

Driving innovation and efficiency 

At Dart, Andrew is set to lead a team of more than 10,000 employees across supply chain, manufacturing, quality, operational excellence, distribution, transportation and related functions. 

"I'm joining an incredible team of 10,000-plus new colleagues," he said. "Together we're delivering high-quality products and excellent service to our customers, whilst driving innovation and efficiency internally. I have a lot to learn and can't wait to dive in.

"In past roles I've been fortunate to work with talented teams across industries. I'm excited to bring that experience to Dart and help drive the mission forward.
