Myton International will connect global producers with UK retailers through its existing farmer relationships and distribution infrastructure

Myton Food Group has launched a dedicated sourcing division to link international manufacturers with UK retail and food service buyers. The business processes fresh meats, fish, pies, produce, flowers and bread for Morrisons Supermarket.

The company works with 2,700 farmers and livestock suppliers. These relationships span multiple generations and focus on knowledge sharing to create consistent supply, reduce waste and improve yield.

The launch comes as UK grocery retailers experience shifting purchasing patterns. According to Kantar Worldpanel, own-label lines accounted for 51.2% of all UK grocery sales in September 2025, up from 50.9% a year earlier.

Own-label sales grew faster than branded goods during this period. Premium own-label ranges recorded double-digit sales increases for six consecutive months.

Retailers seek consolidated partnerships

Over the Christmas period, premium own-label sales grew 9% year on year. According to Kantar, these products took a 7.5% share of overall spend and passed £1bn (US$1.23bn) in a single month for the first time.

Retailers and food service operators are moving towards fewer manufacturing and sourcing partners. The shift indicates demand for scale, consistency and category expertise rather than multiple fragmented suppliers.

Food businesses are placing more weight on partners who can demonstrate operational control at scale. Myton International positions itself as a single point of contact rather than a network of disconnected suppliers.

The new division aims to provide end-to-end sourcing that connects products to market. Myton Food Group already operates manufacturing facilities and a logistics network across the UK.

Our success will be defined by becoming a strategic, trusted partner that fuels the growth of our retail and food service customers through a broad range of innovative products that deliver clear category value.

Building on existing infrastructure

"We saw an opportunity to leverage our extensive supply base, broad manufacturing capability and well-developed logistics network that meet our customers' and their consumers' needs, such as vital cost savings and quality improvements," says Chris Strong, General Manager for Myton International.

Own-label growth shapes sourcing

According to Kantar, premium own-label now drives a notable share of UK grocery growth. Retailers continue to expand their own-brand ranges to meet shopper expectations.

Myton International's launch positions the group to compete in this space. The division bridges the gap between production and retail through existing logistics infrastructure.

The company has bought from suppliers for decades and processes multiple product categories. Myton Food Group now extends this model to international sourcing through the new division.

Myton International offers access to global manufacturers while maintaining quality standards. The business model relies on the parent company's relationships with farmers and distribution networks built over time.
