myenergi: Electrifying UK Fleets with BT and Openreach

Manufacturer of green energy equipment myenergi is partnering with two of the UK's biggest telecommunications companies in order to ease the electrification of their fleets.
As part of BT and Openreach's pathway to sustainability, they are introducing more EVs into their fleets, relying on myenergi equipment to charge the vehicles.
This partnership is a major step to building resilient, future-proof supply chains.
Building green partnerships
myenergi is a manufacturer of EV charging equipment and eco-smart home devices. Through its innovative manufacturing, it is creating affording green technology in order to create accessible and convenient eco-systems.
Its products help increase customers' energy independence and guide them towards a more sustainable future.
The company is dedicated to making green energy as stress-free as possible, providing the capabilities to transfer surplus power from solar panels to water heating, or even EVs.
Its most recent charger innovation is the zappi GLO, a device supporting both 7kW and 22kW applications.
With Zappi, consumers can charge vehicles with free solar energy or choose to store it for a later date, allowing for more control and greater energy expense tracking.
myenergi is now partnering with BT and Openreach to support their electrification strategies.
The telecommunications companies are working to switch to electric commercial van and company car fleets.
Andrew Clint, CEO of myenergi, says: “We’re delighted that BT and Openreach staff will soon be charging their plug-in vehicles with zappi chargers at home. Transitioning such an extensive fleet is no mean feat, but developing the necessary infrastructure to ensure drivers can charge up at home is a huge step forward.
“With zappi, staff will benefit from one of the world’s smartest EV chargers – simple, intuitive and specifically designed to streamline the home charging process. Thanks to the myenergi app, you can control zappi, and the wider HEMS, with the touch of a button.
"Quick, simple and sustainable. It’s another important part our mission to accelerate the UK’s transition to sustainable transport and our commitment to powering the future of fleet electrification.”
Hitting sustainability goals
The partnership, in a movement towards sustainability targets, means that thousand of eco-smart zappi EV chargers will be supplied to engineers.
This means they will have an efficient way to charge their vehicles from home, rather than having to find a charging port elsewhere, hoping that its available.
As a result, instead of leaving for work early to charge the vehicle, extending their working hours, drivers can charge their vehicle overnight with the assurance it'll be ready to go first thing.
It means more efficient teams, as engineers can focus on the job, not where they can charge their vehicle.
This partnership is providing the country with a major step forward in fleet electrification across the UK, as Openreach operates the second-largest commercial fleet.
It is now celebrating having driven its 5,000th EV on the road, proving it is making headway in its goal of hitting net zero by March 2031 for its own operations and 2041 for its supply chain.
Judy O’Keefe, Director of Fleet, Openreach, adds: “We’re making strong progress on our journey to net zero, having invested in more than 5,000 electric vans and more than 2,500 home chargers already.
"Switching the majority of our fleet to electric by 2031 is a big challenge but this partnership is another important step – giving our engineers smart, reliable charging at home to support a greener future."
OVO Energy will be carrying out the installations, helping households and engineers take control of their energy use.
Using myenergi's home energy management system (HEMS), engineers can use an integrated network of eco-smart solutions to see full visibility of their energy use, switch to the best smart tariff and control their smart charging.
Drew Barrett, BT senior fleet manager, comments: “The myenergi zappi is smart, sophisticated and compatible with the leading time of use tariffs, with the ability to harness self-generated renewable energy. We’re confident that, thanks to this partnership, we will have the perfect home charging solution to make the transition to electrification absolutely seamless.”
Through building these partnerships and building sustainable supply chains throughout the telecommunications network, BT, Openreach and myenergi are proving that the way to successfully hitting green targets is through reliable collaboration.
