LG Electronics has formed a strategic partnership with LogisValley in order to expand into the logistics sector, developing its global presence

LG Electronics (LG) is delving into the smart logistics sector, expanding its smart factory innovations.

It has signed an agreement with LogisValley so the companies can begin combining their respective strengths in order to develop next-generation logistics solutions.

The partnership aims to deliver tailored smart logistics solutions which adapt to the ever-changing needs of customers around the world.

A strategic alliance

LG is bringing its thorough understanding of robotics and digital twin technologies to the partnership.

Meanwhile, LogisValley, as Korea’s largest integrated logistics company, is bringing its expertise in logistics centre design, construction and operations.

LogisValley directly operates more than 50 logistics centres around the world, meaning it has a large portfolio of domestic and global clients.

LG and LogisValley will collaborate across multiple ventures as a means to grow their global impact.

To ensure the new logistics centres experience optimal integration of LG’s smart factory technologies and reach full operational efficiency, LG and LogisValley will collaborate from the early design stages.

Lim Young-bin, Chairman of LogisValley Group says: “Our collaboration brings together LogisValley’s smart logistics platform and LG’s advanced factory technologies.

“Together, we will accelerate innovation across logistics and manufacturing, and strengthen our global competitiveness.”

LG expertise

LG brings a significant portfolio of smart factory technology to the partnership, which will greatly streamline logistics efficiency.

The appliance company will bring industrial robots, digital twin-based production system design and monitoring and Gen AI-powered process, safety and quality management.

LG’s robots can help teams automate labour-intensive tasks such as box picking. This means there will be less errors and more efficiency in packaging and product sorting.

This will modernise logistics operations, bringing the partnership to the forefront of innovation.

LG can help optimise space utilisation as it has experience managing large volumes of manufacturing components. Its capabilities in product categorisation and storage enable it to efficiently guide outbound processes.

Moreover, LG’s digital twin technology can create virtual replicas of logistics environments. As a result, it can see which workflows will be the most effective and build around that, using real-time monitoring.

Innovation in a growing market

As well as providing these smart logistics for customers, they will also be applied throughout LG and LogisValley's internal operations.

This will help both companies stay ahead of the competition, remain up to date in an evolving market and prove the value of their respective solutions.

Fortune Business Insights predicts the global smart logistics market will grow from US$88.1bn in 2025 to US$212.8bn in 2032. This means LG and LogisValley must maintain their innovative streak in order to make their impact in the market.

“This partnership is a major step forward in becoming a trusted partner in the fast-growing smart logistics industry,” adds Jeong Dae-hwa, head of LG’s Production-engineering Research Institute.

“By leveraging the logistics expertise we’ve built through operating our Lighthouse smart factories, we aim to create real value for our customers.”

Away from the smart logistics movement, LG and LogisValley are collaborating on a commercial development project in Vietnam.

This will see the creation of a six-star hotel and shopping mall, with LG providing a range of products and solutions, including LG’s latest hotel TV which will work with both Apple AirPlay and Google Cast.
