Success through strategic procurement innovations

Narratives of transformation are increasingly emerging from procurement teams leveraging digital tools.

Rob Turner, Chief Procurement Officer at Deliveroo, is one such example. He recently explained how he spearheaded a comprehensive transformation of Deliveroo's procurement process, incorporating Coupa's source-to-pay (S2P) system and a robust risk management platform over an ambitious 13-month period.

Rob's approach was centred around becoming a trusted business partner, fostering value for both Deliveroo and its suppliers.

"Principally, it was all about understanding business needs and business requirements," he says. "Procurement, when I joined, was not the trusted partner the business needed it to be.”

This transformation initiative involved third-party cost management, process redesign and digital enablement, with a supportive diagnostic phase from PwC to validate savings opportunities, thus shifting procurement's role to one of a growth enabler.

Another prime example is Americana Foods, which has utilised Coupa's platform to optimise supplier engagements and harness data-driven insights for informed decisions.

American Foods aims to enhance its procurement initiatives and methodologies with Coupa's advanced technology. Coupa's AI, regarded as a key player due to its extensive global network data, offers a unique lens into spending habits, thus enhancing procurement strategies.
