XPO: A One-Stop Shop for SOPREMA's Distribution Needs

A leading provider of innovative supply chain solutions, XPO Logistics is know for its wide range of services including full-truckload and less-than-truckload transport, pallet distribution, last-mile delivery, freight forwarding and warehousing.
In being chosen as SOPREMA Group's preferred logistics partner, XPO is set to manage the distribution needs of SOPREMA’s brands, leveraging expertise in sustainability and supply chain management to deliver efficient and eco-friendly services.
Comprehensive logistics support
SOPREMA is one of the UK's fastest-growing suppliers of construction products.
Under the long-term partnership, XPO will oversee UK distribution for SOPREMA and its subsidiaries Celotex, YBS Insulation and Chesterfelt. Its role will involve managing a range of transportation needs, including mechanical off-loads, full truckloads, groupage shipments and pallet network deliveries.
By applying its 4PL expertise, XPO aims to simplify the flow of materials while maintaining cost-effectiveness and quality, both of which are key to SOPREMA’s competitiveness.
A core fleet of 23 trucks and 47 trailers, all branded in SOPREMA’s livery, will handle the bulk of these operations. In addition, XPO will utilise a combination of haulier partners and pallet network services to support the group’s five UK sites in Witham, Hadleigh, Eggborough, Worksop and Chesterfield.
Dan Myers, XPO Logistics’ Managing Director for the UK and Ireland, highlights the organisation's shared priorities: “The SOPREMA Group and XPO Logistics have a shared aim to drive measurable improvement across all aspects of operations.
"Working together, I'm confident our teams will create a high-performing partnership that delivers for all SOPREMA’s stakeholders over the short and long term.”
Sustainability at the core
Serving as a one-stop shop for SOPREMA's logistics operations, XPO’s advanced IT systems played a crucial role in securing the partnership. They not only align with SOPREMA’s goals of improving the customer experience, but support its commitment to reducing carbon emissions.
A key initiative includes transitioning the fleet dedicated to SOPREMA’s operations to run on hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) fuel by 2025. This represents a renewable alternative that significantly reduces CO2 emissions compared to traditional diesel.
XPO will also deliver a bespoke CO2 dashboard as part of its technological offering, designed to provide real-time data on carbon emissions, enabling SOPREMA to monitor its progress towards its sustainability objectives effectively.
Expressing her confidence in the partnership, Michelle Mahoney, Supply Chain Director at SOPREMA Group UK, adds:
“We are delighted to be working with a partner as efficient, capable and technically proficient as XPO Logistics. XPO is the right partner to drive the customer experience.
"Given XPO’s experience and expertise in this sector and CO2 emission reduction, we know we have the best partner to move our business forward in the coming years.”
SOPREMA’s decision to partner with XPO is driven by a desire to enhance customer service and operational efficiency while meeting environmental goals.
The collaboration builds on XPO’s reputation for delivering tailored supply chain solutions across a variety of industries.
