Through its strategic hub in Casablanca (CMN), Royal Air Maroc Cargo is committed to connecting global markets.

Continuing in this vain, the African cargo aviation leader has expanded with new direct routes to São Paulo (GRU) and Toronto (YYZ). These new destinations complement its existing network, which includes Montreal, New York, Washington and Miami.

The Casablanca-São Paulo route – operating three times per week in each direction – re-establishes an essential connection between Morocco and Brazil’s economic and financial centres.

It also strengthens diplomatic and trade ties that have grown significantly in recent years, facilitating the movement of goods and enhancing economic partnerships.

“Brazil and Morocco have a long-standing partnership," says Yassine Berrada, VP Cargo at Royal Air Maroc. "Our new route to São Paulo underscores our ambition to become a driving force in connecting these two dynamic economies.

"This direct service supports trade growth not only between our two nations but also opens doors to broader opportunities in West Africa, Turkey and the Middle East via our CMN hub.”

Connecting Canada with Morocco and beyond

Meanwhile, the Toronto route represents the second direct connection to Canada after Montreal and is also operating three times weekly.

The service has already generated significant interest, with the inaugural flight selling out shortly after its announcement. This level of demand reflects the strong bond between Morocco and its diaspora in Canada, as well as the potential for trade expansion.

Yassine explains: “The Toronto connection strengthens the bond with our community abroad and enhances trade ties by enabling the transport of goods such as citrus, processed foods and traditional Moroccan crafts, while facilitating the import of essential commodities like wheat and aircraft parts."

Toronto is anticipated to play a pivotal role in expanding trade between North America and Morocco while providing further opportunities for connections across Africa and the Middle East through the Casablanca hub.

Growth underpinned by sustainability and technology

Royal Air Maroc’s modern fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners ensures safety and sustainability on these newly-established routes. With lower carbon emissions and advanced technology, these aircraft meet the airline’s environmental and operational goals.

The Casablanca hub is equipped with specialised facilities, including state-of-the-art cold storage and secure handling for pharmaceuticals and perishable goods, enabling efficient transport of diverse cargo such as automotive components, olive oil, hatching eggs and medical equipment.

Looking ahead, Royal Air Maroc plans to quadruple its fleet by 2037, with additional routes to the Americas and other regions anticipated.

"This expansion aligns with our vision to connect Morocco with the world while offering unparalleled service to our customers," Yassine concludes.

"The addition of São Paulo and Toronto is just the beginning of a broader ambition to make Royal Air Maroc Cargo a key player in global trade."
