Pitney Bowes renews UK & US eBay agreements

Global shipping and mailing company Pitney Bowes has renewed its agreement to provide cross-border ecommerce logistics services to eBay in the US and UK.

In the US, Pitney Bowes has been a partner to eBay since 2012 and will continue to support eBay’s Global Shipping Program (GSP) as eBay transitions sellers from GSP to the new eBay International Shipping.

In the UK, Pitney Bowes has renewed its agreement to support eBay’s UK GSP as eBay looks to drive more value to its growing online marketplace.

“As our partnership enters its second decade, Pitney Bowes is excited to be a part of eBay’s renewed vision to make international selling as simple and seamless as domestic delivery for eBay Sellers and buyers around the globe,” said Gregg Zegras, EVP & President, Global Ecommerce at Pitney Bowes.

Cristian van Tienhoven, Chief Operating Officer at eBay UK, said: “The eBay Global Shipping Programme simplifies and removes friction from the increasing complexity of selling internationally. We look forward to working with Pitney Bowes to drive further growth for our sellers.”

FedEx ‘has worked with 360,000 suppliers in 2022’

FedEx has released findings from its 2022 report analysing the company’s impact on the global economy.

The report finds that FedEx moved an average of 16 million shipments each day through its 5,000 facilities in 2022.

FedEx worked with 360,000 suppliers globally who employed more than 16.5mn people. These businesses had a combined annual revenue of $700bn.

Small businesses made up 88% of the FedEx supply chain, and more than half of the FedEx supply chain spend in each region went to small businesses – which collectively supported roughly 810,000 jobs around the world.

In 2022, the company invested $6.8bn in facility improvements, network optimisation and infrastructure improvements.

“All around the world, we helped individuals, businesses, and communities emerge from the pandemic by moving goods and providing services that connect us and power the global economy,” said Raj Subramaniam, President and CEO, FedEx Corporation.

“The report illustrates the ongoing and important work we do every day, including supporting small- and medium-sized businesses which are the backbone of our local communities.”

Etihad Cargo's new Adu Dhabi pharma cool chain facility

Etihad Cargo is set to launch a state-of-the-art pharmaceutical cool chain facility, in partnership with Etihad Airport Services and Abu Dhabi Airports.

The facility will significantly expand Abu Dhabi International Airport’s (AUH) pharmaceutical handling and storage.

The move means Etihad Cargo will be able to provide “world-class, end-to-end temperature-controlled solutions for the transportation of pharmaceuticals across the our network”, says the company.

In the past twelve months Etihad Cargo transported over 50,000 tonnes of cool chain products, including pharmaceutical and healthcare products. The expanded, dedicated pharmaceutical hub will double Abu Dhabi Airport’s cool chain storage capacity and enhance the airport’s capabilities for the storage, handling and transportation of cool chain products.

"The expanded infrastructure will offer best-in-class pharmaceutical shipment solutions to Etihad Cargo’s customers and is the latest step in supporting Abu Dhabi's vision to cement its position as a global pharmaceuticals and life sciences hub," said Martin Drew, Senior Vice President Global Sales & Cargo at Etihad Aviation Group.

"This joint venture provides the perfect location to link the Middle East to not only Asia and Europe, but also the US and Africa, so life-saving medicines and the latest treatments can be transported seamlessly around the world to those that need them the most.”
