How Hermes Fulfilment is Expanding its International Network

Organisations that strategically expand their logistics networks help mitigate risks related to supply chain disruption, meet growing consumer demands for fast delivery and support market entry into new regions.
Leading warehouse and logistics company Hermes Fulfilment is set to take over the returns processing operations of bonprix, the Otto Group’s central logistics service provider, in Łódź, Poland.
The partnership allows Hermes Fulfilment to expand its international logistics network and bonprix to focus on its fashion business while having a reputable logistics partner to manage returns.
Kevin Kufs, CEO of Hermes Fulfilment, comments: “We are pleased to integrate the long-standing bonprix facility into our network, further expanding our international reach and aligning operations in Łódź with our returns processing in Iłowa.”
Strategic integration with existing facilities
Hermes Fulfilment will expand its European operations and enhance efficiency by integrating bonprix’s Łódź returns facility into its wider logistics network.
Hermes Fulfilment’s existing returns centre in Iłowa, Poland, will become aligned with the Łódź facility.
Iłowa spans 20,000 square metres and can process up to 40 million return items annually, while Łódź spans 12,6000 square metres and can process up to 50 million returned items per year.
This strategic integration will cover a wide range of products under the Otto Group and create a more streamlined returns management system.
The impact on bonprix
Hermes Fulfillment is maintaining job security for all employees at the Łódź site, meaning there is no loss of expertise in inspecting and handling returned goods to ensure service quality is maintained.
The previous Managing Director of bonprix in Łódź, Tomasz Mroz, will also be transferred to Hermes Fulfilment.
This operational continuity will reduce inefficiencies and delays, while helping Hermes Fulfilment to meet long-term strategic goals for its logistics network.
“All jobs will be retained,” continues Kevin. “bonprix will continue to process all European returns at this site and will maintain its presence in Łódź across other business areas.”
Hermes Fulfilment’s growing network
The integration supports Hermes Fulfilment’s strategy to improve service quality for B2C e-commerce and its wider goal of becoming one of Europe’s top three B2C fulfilment service providers by 2028.
Poland represents a key logistics hub in Europe, meaning Hermes Fulfilment can easily enhance its logistics footprint across the country and improve its capacity to handle returns efficiently across several markets.
“This move not only strengthens our position in Poland but also accelerates our dynamic growth towards becoming one of the most successful B2C fulfilment service providers in European e-commerce,” adds Kevin Kufs. “With our logistics centres in Germany and additional sites in Switzerland, Italy, the Czech Republic and Poland, we have laid the foundation for further growth.”
By investing in new technologies, Hermes Fulfilment continues to ensure prompt delivery, high product availability and optimal shopping experiences and services for its customers.
