Pharma-Aero expands pharma collaboration platform

Global cross-industry collaboration platform Pharma.Aero has announced five additions to its global community of life sciences end-to-end supply chain stakeholders.

These include Saudia Cargo, SAL Saudi Logistics, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, VEXSL and QProducts & Services.

Pharma.Aero is a cross-industry platform of 60 manufacturers, pharma-certified airports, airlines, freight forwarders, ground handlers and other service stakeholders worldwide.

Pharma.Aero Chairman Trevor Caswell says: “We are thrilled to welcome such a diverse group of supply chain stakeholders to our global community. 

“We look forward to leveraging their expertise to enhance end-to-end supply chain visibility for life science and med-tech products.”

Supply chain disruptions slowing, but still significant

A report from Supply chain mapping and analytics company Resilinc shows a total of 8,197 supply chain disruptions in the first half of 2023. 

The most affected sectors were healthcare, high-tech, automotive, aerospace, and food & beverage. 

The top ten reported disruptions in the first half of 2023 include: Factory fires; mergers & acquisitions; leadership transition; factory, labour & port  disruptions; and cyber attacks

Resilinc data is drawn from its 24/7 global event monitoring platform, which monitors news on 400 types of disruption across 104 million sources, including traditional news, social media platforms, wire services, videos, and government reports. 

Röhlig appoints Albrecht as sea freight chief

Germany-based Röhlig Logistics has appointed Simon Albrecht as its new Global Sea Freight Director. 

Albrecht joins at a time when Röhlig is looking to expand its position in the marine freight sector, and says it wants Albrecht’s “vast industry knowledge and strategic vision”. 

“Simon brings a wealth of logistics expertise, backed by a long-term track record in the industry,” Sea Freight CEO Hylton Gray said. “With his support, we will continue to drive the strategic growth of our sea freight business.” 

Albrecht, holds a Master’s degree in Digital Business Management and has 25 years’ experience in the logistics sector.

He said: “My focus will be on driving network expansion by entering new markets and extending the carrier portfolio. It will also be important to ensure access to alternative fuel technologies to provide low-carbon shipping options.”
