Danone: New Production Line Will Streamline its Supply Chain

From its roots as Dannon Milk Products, in the Bronx in 1942, Danone has become a pioneer in the US food industry. Since being established, the company has dedicated itself to supporting American jobs and agriculture.
Danone US is a part of Danone North America, a certified corporation, with brands including Activia, Dannon and Oikos.
Across 13 manufacturing facilities in 10 states, Danone US has grown to employ 5,000 American workers, with plans to continue expanding.
Most recently, the company has opened a new production line in Jacksonville, with nearly 200 new direct and indirect jobs being created within the community.
A self-reliant supply chain
As well as the expansion of the manufacturing facility, Danone is also committed to investing in a new regional distribution center in Jacksonville. This will allow for a more streamlined supply chain, delivering products more efficiently and at peak freshness across the Southeastern US without delays.
This modernised supply chain means Danone can be self-reliant and domestic within production, allowing for a community-based approach and continued investment into the US.
90% of Danone products are already made within the US, but with this new investment, it is committing to a stronger supply chain and a more streamlined distribution. Its objective is to increase product availability on shelves across the US and shorten the journey from production to customer consumption.
Dan Magliocco, President of Danone North America, says: “"We are proud to be expanding our operations in Jacksonville and creating new jobs and opportunities in the local community. Today's announcement is the latest example of our over 80 year commitment to American manufacturing and strengthening our local communities."
“Today’s announcement is the latest example of our over 80 year commitment to American manufacturing and strengthening our local communities.”
Giving back to the community
Since 1942, Danone has been committed to maintaining local economic development, a factor which continues today. Dedicating itself to forming strong partnerships with local farmers and suppliers, the company’s efforts often focus on boosting the local economy.
By keeping the process local, the economic benefits ripple throughout the broader local communities, by employing local farmers, manufacturers, and suppliers.
Danone is expanding the 115,025 square-foot Jacksonville facility, which manufactures coffee and creamer products including STōK Cold Brew Coffee, to introduce a new production line.
Together with the new regional distribution center in Jacksonville, nearly 200 jobs are being created to support this new line.
Rep. Aaron Bean (R-FL), U.S. representative for Florida's 4th congressional district, adds: "Danone's ongoing commitment to promoting manufacturing in the U.S. and here in Jacksonville is a great example for others to follow.
"By investing millions of dollars in our economy and creating 200 jobs locally, Danone is demonstrating its long-term commitment to Northeast Florida. I look forward to the continued growth and opportunities that Danone's investment will offer the 904."
Dan adds: “We are focused on serving our consumers as our business continues to grow and innovate, and we are committed to accelerating these investments to play our part in driving economic growth."
Integrating sustainable practices
Danone has sustainability and heritage at the forefront of its business, including throughout the new expansion.
The development reaffirms Danone’s commitment to producing American-made products and maintaining its US manufacturing heritage. The Jacksonville expansion will deliver more sustainable practices by reducing transport and overseas production.
The new line being produced in Jacksonville also introduces cutting-edge technology designed to improve efficiency and sustainability. This includes a unique bottle-molding process which will result in a 30% reduction in bottle loss, as well as reduced water usage.
